I am honored to announce “The Making of Killers of the Flower Moon” is a finalist in the Oklahoma Book Awards, Design / Illustration / Photography category.

A collaborative effort with an amazing team, this book is a highlight of my design career and I’m proud to be honored alongside my Osage News colleagues.

“This project reflects the work of our team and the voices of our community, documenting a historic moment for the Osage Nation,” said Osage News Editor Shannon Shaw Duty.

Winners will be announced at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City on May 16.

Just learned I won several awards at the Oklahoma Press Association's Better Newspapers annual contest. Swept the categories for Front Page Design, took 1st and 2nd in Feature Photo, 3rd Place for Overall Photography (this is for all photo contributors in the paper) and 3rd for Large Space ad. Kinda disappointed in the lack of wins in advertising as I've swept those categories the last few years, but grateful for the wins!

These are for work I did for a former client who – without cause or notice – unexpectedly fired me via email a few weeks ago. It was a blow financially, but creatively I feel free. So, if you need an award-winning graphic designer and photographer for any upcoming projects, I'm your girl!

For those who don't know, I've been designing for over 40 years and started my own freelance companies, Tyler Creative, and TylerDog Photography around 1994. My specialty has been publication design – book covers, newspapers, magazines, annual reports, etc. – but I can literally design anything you throw in front of me.

Not only that, but I am also a teacher! I was an adjunct instructor at Tri County Technology center for over 15 years teaching Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Photography classes. If you're looking for one-on-one or small group training in any of these courses, drop me a DM or give me a call!

Two of my photos won 1st and 3rd place in the Oklahoma Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest this year! I also won 1st and 2nd place for Small Space Ad, 3rd place for Large Space Ad, and 3rd place for Advertising Overall. Not as good as last year—I swept the categories—but I'm happy. 🙂

Judges said this about the Christmas Star: "Stunning photo! What a beautiful image. A fine balance and composition of the 'Christmas star' showing off its beauty through the Osage Heritage trail sign. Fantastic! Well done!

Third place went to 'Rising of the Milky Way.' Judges said: "Night photography takes a special ability and this is just a wonderful shot of the Milky Way. Great balance and composition! Good work!"

In all, The Fairfax Chief won 18 awards.

A bright spot to end the week—we earned 7 awards and The Fairfax Chief earned 7 for a total of 14 wins in the Oklahoma Press Association’s Better Newspaper contest! I swept categories for best Small and Large Space Ads and second place for best feature photo, Ms. Carol and Carey took home editorial/writing awards, and Ms. Teresa a sports photo award. Congrats to my Fairfax Chief work family! 🌟

We won third place for Layout & Design at the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists, the newspaper won Best Newspaper (second year in a row), and Shannon, Benny, Lenzy, and Ruby all won several awards. The Society of Professional Journalists, Oklahoma Pro Chapter, awarded the Osage News First Place in the Best Newspaper (Newspaper B) category. They awarded Editor Shannon Shaw Duty second place in General News Reporting for “Judge orders DNA testing in membership removal case.”
