When it's time for your business to crunch bottom-line numbers, you might be rethinking expenses that didn't even exist 10 years ago. The truth is, they are protecting you from great (and increasing) risk to your business, which also didn't exist 10 years ago. The stakes continue to get higher.

Is Impersonation Protection Worth It? A common question we hear from clients is whether advanced email security really matters.

CYBER THREAT ALERT: We want to make you aware of a significant email security threat currently being circulated. This photo is an example of one we caught recently. In many cases, these messages may look like they are sent from your own email address to yourself, making them seem trustworthy at first glance.
What to watch for:
* Emails that appear to come from your own address
* Unexpected or unusual messages, especially involving urgency,
* Password resets, and QR code scanning.
* Requests for sensitive information, payments, or login actions
What you should do:
* Do not click links or download attachments from these messages
* Do not reply or engage with the email
* Immediately forward the email to our team for review

Our team is actively monitoring and implementing protections for our clients, but user awareness is critical in preventing these attacks. If you have any questions or believe you may have interacted with a suspicious email, please contact Team BTS (or your own IT support) right away.

April 10, 1943 is kind of a big deal - the day of conception for the Grandaddy of all Electronic Computers. “Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania begin work on the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC), which when completed, will become the first general-purpose fully electronic computer, capable of making calculations one thousand times faster than any other prior computer. The work will be carried out in secret since the computer is intended for military purposes, though it won’t actually be completed until after World War II ended. ENIAC will be unveiled to the public in February 1946.” ~ thisdayintechhistory.com

When it comes to IT Security, many messages bear repeating, including "Tax Season is Prime Phishing Season". Check out our most recent blog to learn more about the areas of vulnerability, angles of attack, and ways you can prepare your staff to not fall into the traps.

Tax season is prime phishing season. It doesn’t just bring deadlines - it brings urgency, sensitive data, and a spike in cyber risk.

Are you sure you are backing up your company’s data in the most effective way possible? Celebrate World Backup Day by checking out our previous blog post on the topic!

We have a couple of client case studies we’d like to share as cautionary tales, as well as examples of why you must perform a regular review of your backup protocols. Cyber attacks are becoming more and more prevalent. We have protocols in place for how to most effectively counteract an email compromise, successful phishing attempt or breach at a client business. But the organization affected needs to have a plan in place as well. Kind of a "help us to help you" situation. This month's blog shares a clear timeline of what's happening in the first 30 minutes after a breach. (and how you can prepare for it to be a footnote instead of a crisis for your organization).

A cyber breach doesn't usually announce itself. It whispers. What happens in the next 30 minutes determines if it'll be a footnote or crisis.
