New Scam!!!
Actually just a little variation of an older one. I peach all the time to all my customers not to click on links or open attachments in email. Not, should you call any number in an email. The safest thing to do is to call a number you know if it is someone you are associated with and verify if the email was sent by them. Apart from that, if you were expecting an email from them, you're somewhat safer, otherwise my strong recommendation is not to open, click or call.
The new variation is you revive and email condemning a subscription you have or don't have, it is expiring and your card will be automatically charged some larger monthly amount say $90. You call, they direct you to a website to unsubscribe, them ultimately you will be instructed to download a file, Word, Excel whatever. Then if it's a Word file, you will be told to click on "Enable Macros" so you can digitally sign off that you want to unsubscribe. The macro will contain malware that can cause all sorts of problems including stealing any information they want.
I also tell my customers a phone to me is quick and easy and may save you a tremendous amount of trouble and only take a minute for me to advise you on what to do which I am currently not charging for that phone call. Can't tell you how many customers have clicked on bait before calling.. calling or texting is so much easier. If you don't have my contact info, let me know.
