This is from 2019, and it is still one of my favorite photos. The moment was so special to me that I painted it. Unfortunately, a flooded office destroyed the painting. Below are my thoughts about that day as I wrote them back then. This is definitely a memory that I treasure. 💙

She was still feeling a bit shy. Not quite ready for a face reveal. I call this time of adjusting to being around people "acclimating". I guess it's an introvert or bashful thing, and she gets more than her fair share of both of those things from her quirky Aunt Nissi. Nevertheless, I love this photo. The colors. Her outfit. The memory of the moment. Everything! My sweet little niece wasn't ready to be seen, but she was super excited to see ME and give me her gift.

I can relate to her conflicting emotions very much. This photo is ME. Every. Single. Day.

When I was a little girl, I talked to my Grandma Bergeron a lot about how much I wanted to help create a Mardi Gras float one day. Recently, that dream came true! I was asked to paint panels for an Alice in Wonderland themed night parade here in Baton Rouge, LA (Krewe of Southdowns). I know Grandma will be so happy to see my art glowing in that parade and hopefully making people happy! She loved Mardi Gras so much! My nieces are riding in the float, too. That makes everything extra special. 💜

Here are some pics of the panels as I finished painting them, and then also glowing on the float. Parade rolls at 7pm. (This was my first time working with glow in the dark paint. I need much improvement!! LOL!!) BUT, I got to paint a Mardi Gras float, y'all!! (Thank you, Jeremy & The Plant Barn, for the opportunity!)
