As we approach the end of hurricane season we are again looking at hurricane, Hurricane Delta, making land fall over Cameron Parish. Our hearts and prayers are with Louisiana. However, with this storm inching closer and closer to Southeast Texas, it's never to late to prepare.
Below are a few tips on preparing your office when facing an approaching storm:

1. DO A FULL BACK UP OF ALL YOUR COMPUTER FILES. EVEN ONES THAT WILL BE GOING OFF-SITE.
This will help minimize losing any information.

2. CREATE AN EMERGENCY BOX OR BIN.
Just like when you are preparing to evacuate your home, make sure you have all insurance paperwork, bank account information, corporation paperwork, etc. Also, make sure you remove all cash from the building.

3. BOARD UP WINDOWS.
This will help minimize any water damage.

4. REMOVE ITEMS AWAY FROM WINDOWS AND EXTERNAL DOORS.
Again, this will help minimize any water damage if a door gets blown off or a boarded up window is breached.

5. TRY TO REMOVE OR PROTECT EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT.
Even when covered under insurance, it takes time to replace equipment lost in a storm. Any surge protectors, battery backups, etc that are on the floor, should be moved to higher ground. It's better to try and protect it so when you come back you can begin business ASAP.

6. MAKE A LIST OF ALL LOGIN INFORMATION AND PASSWORDS.
Many things are accessible via the internet even when you are off site. Make sure you have a list and keep if SAFE.
