This is a Windows Security PSA:

Saving passwords on browsers has always been a gamble of convenience over security. But security experts just sent out a warning on just how exposed your credentials are. It was discovered by a Security expert in Norway that Microsoft Edge loads all saved passwords into memory at startup. This falls under its vulnerability category: CWE-316, “Cleartext Storage of Sensitive Information in Memory.”

Even though security experts urged Microsoft to rectify this significant security flaw, the response from Microsoft was that it was stating that it was a conscious design decision and intentional.

If you use Microsoft Edge and value your credential security, I urge my followers and all who see to find another browser. If you like Edge, then at least use a password manager.

You shouldn’t have to run your business in your head. Here’s why job software just makes sense.

This is just a short from my full breakdown here: Job Management Software for Contractors: What to Use and What Comes Next

Microsoft just partnered with NABTU or better known as North Americas Building Trades Unions to help the skilled trade industry build skills they need to survive the future in an AI driven economy.

Ai is in the software that estimators use, it’s in the accounting software the back office uses to submit invoicing, it’s used to drive automation in marketing and client relationships and lead generation for construction firms and trade businesses. The gap is growing between those who know how AI works and can help scale their work in the industry and those who follow traditional, manual workflows that cost them time, money, and growth.

It’s Monday, with a high of 73 degrees and no rain to be seen in Beaver County, PA. Take a second this morning to think about the last time tech caused a problem on a job.

How long did it take to sort out? How many people stopped working while it did?

That cost never shows up on a line item. But for a crew of 10 to 30 people, even two hours a week in tech headaches for the crew adds up to thousands of hours a year.

Your jobsite has more technology running it than you think.

Telematics. Fleet GPS. LTE in the field. It is all IT and most of it is unmanaged.

I am Don, Don’s Tech Rescue. I work with contractors and trades businesses in western PA. Let’s talk.

If you're sending proposals from a Gmail, iCloud, or Comcast account, you're already losing points before anyone reads a word.

GCs and commercial clients see your email address before they see your bid. It tells them something before you've had a chance to say anything. A personal account signals side hustle. A business email on your own domain signals real operation.

That's not the only problem either. When your crew runs on personal accounts, you have no control over what leaves the business, no way to cut off access when someone quits, and no admin controls if something goes wrong.

Business email through Microsoft 365 runs about $7 a user per month. If you've got a website, you've already got the domain. The setup takes a few hours.
I wrote up the full breakdown on why it matters and what it actually costs you to ignore it:

I had a question for the contractors out there still using Gmail or aol. Did you know there’s a better way?

A way to keep you more protected from spam blocking and impersonation.

A way to add more branding and cred tokens to your business name.

If you could have a custom email for as little at $7 per mailbox, would you do it?

So you finally decided to invest in job software to get your crew organized, but yet no one’s using it. Before you give up on it, read my latest blog. Because it’s probably not the software that’s failing your business. It just might be your IT foundation.

Buildertrend works. So why is the foreman still calling the office to find out where the plans are? Usually it's not a software problem.
