"Meeting rooms stop being passive and become reactive."
~ Holger Reisinger, Senior Vice President at Jabra.

And if meeting experiences are changing this dramatically, and 'video conferencing' continues to evolve - does the industry need a new term?

"When you say video conferencing, you are forgetting about everything else that happens inside that room... Sure, audio and video are still a huge part of what we do. We want the best of the best for both of those solutions. Good enough is no longer good enough... But the AI-powered workplace is so far beyond video conferencing."
~ Jimmy Vaughan, Senior Program Manager at Microsoft.

"Somebody asked me, 'If you're not going to call it video conferencing, what would you call it?' And the closest thing that I think I can come up with is..." 🥁🥁🥁

📽️ Watch the full discussion, hosted by Dan Ferrisi from Commercial Integrator at the Alliance booth during InfoComm Show, to hear Vaughan's answer and gain valuable insights into the trends, technologies, and innovations redefining workplace collaboration.

USB-C is everywhere. But is it ready for the demands of professional AV environments?

"USB-C is suffering from growing pains due to the transition from a consumer-grade interface to a professional-grade one with different performance expectations. The most prominent challenges include connection stability and the supported cable length", says Effi Goldstein, President of the HDBaseT Alliance, in an interview with AV Magazine.

"I like to say that HDBaseT and USB-C are a match made in heaven... By implementing HDBaseT as the underlying infrastructure, system integrators can ensure a stable, seamless plug-and-play experience for users with practically no service calls."

USB-C is no longer just joining the meeting. It's running the meeting.
What's driving the continued rise of USB-C in Pro AV?

"USB-C is an easy, simple connector to use, and it's powerful. It carries power, Ethernet, data, audio, video, everything you need... The vast majority of today's computers have it and, in some cases, only have it."
~ Keith Kennedy, Managing Director at

"Everyone is going to end up having to have a USB Type-C solution. If you're not designing products that do all of the functions, then you're not designing a product that's going to be viable in the future."
~ Sam Metivier, Director of Product Management at AVPro

As part of the Extended series, in partnership with Commercial Integrator, Dan Ferrisi sat down with industry experts at the HDBaseT Alliance booth at InfoComm 2026 to explore the trends, technologies, and innovations shaping the future of Pro AV.

While AI-powered features like speaker tracking, participant framing, and multi-camera experiences become standard in video conferencing, many meeting room designs still rely on connectivity architectures that weren't built for today's workflows.
Could the real bottleneck be the path between the camera and the AI engine?

This latest article, published by Installation, explores why traditional workarounds may be limiting AI performance, and how HDBaseT-USB3 and the recently introduced Valens' VS6310 chipsets are changing the equation.

Can AI-powered multi-camera conferencing make remote meetings feel more natural and immersive?

At InfoComm Show 2026, Dan Ferrisi sat down with Aaron Luber from Google and Greg Baribault from HP at the HDBaseT Alliance booth, where we hosted a ground breaking discussion of one of the most innovative collaborations in video conferencing - HP Dimension with Google Beam.

Their joint solution combines advanced hardware, software, AI, and multi-camera technology to transform the future of remote collaboration.

"We designed a six-camera array, coupled with advanced audio technologies, to break that barrier and make you feel like there is another human being sitting across the table from you", says Baribault.

"Together we create a lifelike 3D representation that gives the feeling of being virtually in the same space together... Reports show a 30% increase in memory recall and attention, and a 40% increase in focus when comparing 3D experiences to traditional 2D video", adds Luber.

📽️ Watch the full discussion and learn how AI, multi-camera systems, and immersive collaboration technologies are helping bring people closer together, wherever they are.
