Is your food brand accidentally paying the "fragmentation tax"?

We built three calculators into our latest blog post so you can find out just how much your brand could end up paying for fragmented workflows:

⏱️ 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗴: The cost of delayed product launches from version control issues
⚠️ 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲: The financial reality of non-compliance or recall vulnerability
📝 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: What all those hours spent hand-keying food specs in really ends up costing you

When product data, supplier info, and compliance workflows are split across different tools and folders, teams slow down. Decisions that should take minutes end up taking days, delaying product launches and increasing operational risk.

The UK food supply chain is at a turning point.

In her latest Forbes Technology Council article, Trustwell CEO Katy Jones explores why the future of food safety, traceability, and transparency depends on moving from disconnected systems to integrated data and collaboration.

As supply chains grow more complex and consumer expectations continue to rise, companies need connected technology that supports smarter decisions, faster response times, and stronger visibility across the food ecosystem.

Read the article to learn why integration is becoming a competitive advantage for food brands and suppliers alike:

Regulatory strategy works best when it starts early.

In the latest episode of Food Tech Talk: Supply Chain Insights from Farm to Fork, Katy Jones, CEO of Trustwell, speaks with Susan Bond, founder of Bond Advisory Group, about the evolving role of regulatory leadership in food innovation.

Susan explains why regulatory teams should be part of product and commercialization discussions from the beginning. Early involvement helps organizations understand the boundaries of innovation, evaluate risk more effectively, and bring products to market with greater confidence.

Strong regulatory strategy supports smarter decisions across R&D, marketing, and operations.

On the latest episode of Food Tech Talk, Charlie Chappell, former VP at The Hershey Company, joins Katy Jones to discuss the often invisible role food safety teams play in protecting consumers and brands.

Charlie compares food safety to IT security. When systems work properly, most people never notice them. Attention usually comes only when something goes wrong.

As scientific understanding continues to evolve, organizations must continue strengthening their approach to quality assurance, risk prevention, and consumer protection.

What defines a “new” food ingredient?

On this episode of the Food Tech Talk podcast, Eric Schulze of Evergreen joins Katy Jones to discuss how cultivated meat fits within existing U.S. regulatory frameworks.

Eric explains that U.S. policy evaluates the safety of the finished ingredient, not simply the method used to produce it. His perspective challenges the idea that cultivated meat should be treated as something fundamentally unfamiliar.

As he notes, cultivated meat is still meat. The focus remains on safety, quality, and consumer trust.

A labeling error is rarely *just* a labeling issue.

It’s often the result of disconnected data across suppliers, systems, and teams.

From missed allergens to outdated ingredient statements, these gaps can lead to recalls, wasted resources, and compliance risks.

Our latest blog explores how food companies can:

✔️ Identify common data gaps in labeling
✔️ Reduce manual errors and rework
✔️ Build more reliable, connected workflows

When your data is aligned, your labels are too, allowing you to build trust with every product.

Nutrient content claims do more than catch a shopper’s eye on a crowded grocery store shelf; they increasingly inform purchasing decisions.

Consumers need to trust that the label is true to what's inside, whether it's that "Sugar-Free" yogurt or a jar of peanut butter that claims to be an "Excellent Source of Protein."

To keep label claims consistent, accurate and meaningful, the FDA regulates how they are defined, calculated, and presented on packaging.

In our latest blog, we:

✪ Define nutrient content claims, including direct and implied content claims
✪ Explore the Big Three claims: “Free,” “Low,” & “High”
✪ Cover the role of RACC in determining eligibility
✪ Lay out some common examples of permitted claims

As label scrutiny increases, compliance and consumer confidence in your brand rely on your ability to make label claims with confidence.

So, CAN you make that label claim? Head to today's blog to find out. We'll drop the link in the comments below:
