Former CHS Gas Station in Downtown Lynden Under New Ownership, Changes Planned
The former CHS Northwest gas station at 300 Main Street in downtown Lynden is under new ownership, with plans to expand its merchandise selection, hire additional employees and potentially extend operating hours.
Whatcom County property records reviewed by Bellingham Metro News show that CHS Inc. sold the property to PM Ventures 10 LLC in September 2026.
In an interview with Bellingham Metro News on Tuesday, October 27, Parm, who confirmed she is part of the ownership group, said the gas station will operate as Lynden Express and will largely retain its existing operations.
The new owners plan to add more merchandise and have already ordered additional coolers for the convenience store. There are no plans for major changes to the store’s existing layout.
“The store will pretty much stay the same as it is,” she said, describing the existing setup as one that already works well.
The station currently closes at 8 p.m., but the owners hope to eventually extend business hours until 10 p.m. once additional employees are hired. No specific date has been set for the change.
One of the more noticeable changes since the acquisition has been fuel prices. According to the ownership group, prices have dropped from $4.99 to $4.59 per gallon since the ownership change, a reduction of approximately 40 cents.
The decision to purchase the business was partly driven by the group’s existing presence in Lynden. The owners are connected to three other gas station businesses in the area, including Lynden ARCO, Bender Sinclair and Roadrunner Fuel, according to state business records reviewed by Bellingham Metro News.
“We live in Lynden. We already have three other sites, so we kind of wanted to stay local, keep it local,” Parm said.
The ownership group hopes to provide customers with competitive prices on fuel and merchandise while maintaining the familiar convenience store.
The former CHS farm store at 415 Depot Road will also continue operating as Lynden Farm and Home, with its existing operations largely unchanged.
The new ownership group also confirmed that employees from both the former CHS gas station and Farm and Home store will be staying on under Lynden Express and Lynden Home store. The owners spoke highly of the existing staff, saying employees at both locations have been welcoming throughout the transition.
The acquisition follows CHS Northwest’s announcement earlier this year that it would sell several retail and fuel locations across Whatcom County as the company shifts its focus away from retail operations.
When asked about becoming part of the downtown Lynden business community, the new owner said she was “very excited” about the opportunity.
“It’s pretty exciting to be in Lynden downtown,” she said.
The group’s other three locations primarily serve customers traveling along major roads, while the new downtown location offers an opportunity to serve a different customer base.
For now, Lynden Express will continue operating much as it did before the sale, with additional merchandise and possible extended hours planned as the new owners settle in.
