That classic 📞 emoji we all use? It's modeled after the Western Electric 500 — a rotary phone design introduced in 1949 and used in homes and offices across the U.S. for decades.

With its sturdy build, satisfying clicks, and iconic circular dial, the WE500 wasn’t just a phone — it was the phone. It even had its own built-in ringer volume control (which felt futuristic at the time).

While we’ve moved on from spinning dials to smart VoIP systems and cloud-based features, we still love a good throwback.
