Online shopping is skyrocketing—so is the waste.
Between 2019 and 2021, the number of e-commerce shipping boxes nearly doubled:

✅ 1.7 million tons in 2019
⏩ 3.5 million tons in 2021

But here’s the catch: our recycling system didn’t grow to keep up. In some areas, it even shrunk—making it too costly to collect and recycle all those boxes.
We can’t just recycle our way out of this problem.
