Happy Friday all, looks like weather is slowly getting better soon the trees will be budding (some are) and it’ll be green again soon. 😁

we are got busier this week from word of mouth. (thank you🙏🏻) A lot of PlayStation 5’s, not for repairs but for maintenance (cleaning) and a good thing too, a few could have had some serious issues including chip failures. (not worth repairing) it’s what we try to prevent and for $45-$65 well worth it and can usually get it done same day. Check the pictures as some have descriptions. 😉

Also found a Samsung Phone on our street, most likely lost during the winter, went to charge it and did nothing so opened it up and nothing but corrosion everywhere, no saving it though I did recycle the battery.

Also that Google pixel screen replacement came in and has to be the most delicate replacement I’ve done yet. The display is razor thin and can’t be touched or have the protective film on it during first boot up. 😮

Next week we have an old 4th generation iPod coming in (I still own a few and use them while hiking or driving) for repair.

So until next week, if it’s nice, get outside but send me your broken electronics first 😘

Finally good weather😁 took the EUC out on the rail trail yesterday and other than a couple wet spots it was perfect! This week we worked on a couple GPS’s and many, many PlayStation 5’s with various problems mostly HDMI ports which if you look at the pictures I explain some of the differences in what I install compared to factory ones. Also got some Beats for an audio board replacement.
Next week we have more PS 5’s coming in and the latest Google Pixel for a screen replacement which will be interesting… well for me anyways 😂
Until next week, enjoy the sun as I hear snow on Monday coming😮

This week I did something a little different, installed a car stereo (I did it professionally in the 90’s) and got the old one which from the pictures you can see a damaged screen, doesn’t look too bad to repair but fuse is blown so may have some more damage then just the screen. I will find out😁

Then we had a lot of iPhone mini’s for battery replacements, usually batteries last 2-4 years depending on charging and use habits.
And some last minute drop offs, Ps5’s with various problems, hoping to get to them today.

Till next week enjoy the warm weather that’s coming. Dusting off the helmet and safety gear and will be out Tuesday riding the electric unicycle so if you see me around say hi!

Happy Easter! This week we had a bunch of battery replacements which I won’t bore you with repetitive pictures. We do have an external hard drive on the bench with a bad USB connector we’re replacing (took a lot of research to get the right part) keeping one more thing out of the landfill.
Got a blast from the past with solving a problem on a Macintosh SE over at Ava Jackson’s studio in Gorham, NH. https://www.avajxn.com/bio.
I haven’t worked on one since the 90’s and it brought back a lot of memories. The Macintosh SE was a personal computer designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple Computer, from March 1987 to October 1990. It marked a significant improvement on the Macintosh Plus design, notably due to its modular and expandable functionality.
Fun to work on the classics every now and then 😁 also we adopted a rescue dog since we lost out last Shi-Tzu a few months ago, our new pup is Winter(fitting name) and is blind and about 14 years old but is the sweetest girl, has to always be next to someone so is she’s underfoot a lot.

Till next week enjoy your holiday!

Last week we had more HDMI ports to replace and a couple controllers to replace broken or off alignment sticks with TMR replacements (eliminates stick drift)
Had a Cosmic Red PS5 come in and worked our magic getting it repaired, cleaned (some cigarette smoke plus dust = bad for electronics) and back in action also did TMR’s in their controller making a very happy customer in the process!
Also did an Xbox series S from a Maine customer (a lot of those lately), haven’t seen one of these in a while and port damage wasn’t as bad as some I’ve seen in this model. Another happy customer😁👌
This week we have battery changes, iPhones mostly with a couple Samsungs thrown in, and one external hard drive port repair, I like keeping stuff out of the landfill 😉

Enjoy the pics and post ya later!🤪

This week we have a PS5 for an HDMI port replacement but unfortunately it was more involved than that with a possible blown video chip, still working on it. Then we got a couple unique phones I don’t see many of, a Google Pixel 9 Pro with a broken screen and a CAT S62 which is a ruggedized phone for a loud speaker replacement.
Next week we have an Xbox One S for an HDMI replacement which ought to be fun 🥴
What happened to the warm weather? I see the naple sap is running good, that a plus😉

Till next week!

Finally it’s getting warmer out and the clocks go foward tonight! We had an interesting week that started with a battery replacement in an Apple Magic Mouse. It wasn’t magic at all as the battery was held in by some abnormally strong adhesive, had to use some adhesive remover on it to get it to budge. Then on to a Motorola G Play for a screen replacement and a pretty smashed up iPad screen that shattered leaving little tiny glass pieces in everything. (Check the pictures)
Also had a smashed iPhone 16 Pro Max back glass that we restored and a couple PS5 controllers for new sticks. Next week looks even busier with more ipads and screen repairs, thank you all for the business and hope we saved you some money 😉

Till next week, enjoy the upcoming weather!

Apple was fined $27 million in France for slowing older iPhones. In any other country, they would have gotten away with it.

France became the first country to make planned obsolescence a criminal offense. Any manufacturer that deliberately shortens a product's lifespan faces up to two years in prison, a €300,000 fine, or up to 5% of annual revenue. The nonprofit HOP, founded by activist Laetitia Vasseur, pushed for years to make it happen.

In 2020, Apple was fined $27 million for intentionally slowing older iPhones and forced to post a public admission on its website for a month. France also introduced a mandatory Repairability Index: every smartphone, laptop, and appliance now carries a score from 1 to 10 showing how easy it is to fix. A national Repair Fund subsidizes repairs to make fixing cheaper than replacing.

No other country has gone this far, and the EU is now working on similar legislation.
