📣 Nominations are now open for our annual election for ORCID Board of Directors and the ORCID Researcher Advisory Council!

This year, in seeking perspectives and skills complementary to those of continuing Board members, the Nominating Committee will be specifically looking for candidates who meet two or more of the following:

⭐️ Represent one of the following stakeholder groups: funders or facilities
⭐️ Based in one of the following regions: Europe or Latin America
⭐️ Have a track record of advocating on behalf of ORCID within their region and community
⭐️ Are knowledgeable about ORCID and/or other scholarly infrastructure services
⭐️ Have financial expertise, including an understanding of organizational finance, and are willing to potentially serve as Treasurer in the future
⭐️ Have demonstrable experience in organizational governance and senior-level management

In his latest piece, tech pioneer Tim O'Reilly highlights a powerful blueprint for the future:

"Systems like arXiv, DOIs, CrossRef, Datacite, ORCID, OpenAlex, ROR, Retraction Watch, and PubMed form a kind of collaborative exoskeleton for scientific publishing and by extension, for modern scientific knowledge."

By forcing AI models to rely on this structured metadata and persistent identifiers (PIDs) instead of scraping the web, the global scholarly research community can safeguard long-term research integrity.
