Apple declared a watch too old to fix. The Apple Watch Series 1 came out in 2016 as the cheaper, faster sequel to the original, with a dual-core chip that made apps less molasses-y and helped push fitness rings, heart-rate checks and wrist notifications into daily life. The dead-watch roll call includes the original Apple Watch, Series 1 and Series 2, with Series 3, 4 and 5 limping toward the cliff.
