Cloud providers lock down their side pretty well. Most breaches happen on the user side — weak passwords, unsecured devices, no backup if something goes sideways.

The cloud is only as secure as the habits around it.

Relying on a single method or location is the actual danger here. The industry standard is the 3-2-1 rule — three copies of your data, two different types of storage, one copy off-site. Hybrid setups (local + cloud) check all three boxes at once.

Unknown or shared drives can carry malware even if they look totally harmless — no sketchy folder names required. If you're not 100% sure where it's been, give it a pass.

"How often should we back up?" Great question. The real answer: it depends on how much data (and downtime) you can actually stomach losing.

Daily is the baseline for most small businesses. But your Recovery Point Objective (how much data you can afford to lose) and Recovery Time Objective (how long you can afford to be down) should drive the real answer — and critical systems usually need tighter targets than the rest.

"Juice jacking" is real — compromised public USB ports can install malware or pull data while your phone happily charges away. The fix is simple: bring your own charger, or better yet, a power bank.

Small habit. Way less "wait, why is my phone doing that."
