Technology Services will perform a software code upgrade on our wireless network at 6:00 am on Thursday, March 24. The upgrade is to address a known bug that could be causing some of the wireless issues students have been experiencing. During this time all wireless internet access will be unavailable. Services should be restored by 7:00 am.

Tech Services will perform planned maintenance with our primary Internet Service Provider beginning at 11:59 pm, Thursday, April 5, and ending by approximately 6:00 am, Friday, April 6. During this time, the on-campus wired and wireless networks will be unavailable. Blackboard and other services in WebbConnect will also be unavailable until upgrades are complete.

Blackboard access from off-campus is intermittent at this time. On-campus access is performing well. Technology Services is working on the off-campus issue at this time and will send an email update and post an update here when the issue is resolved.

Gardner-Webb University’s Internet Service Provider RST experienced a service outage at 11:00 am on 1/20/2015. Technology Services began working with Time Warner Cable as our new Internet Service Provider to install services. Our Network Administrator and Time Warner worked through the night to restore services as quickly as possible.

Service has been restored at Gardner-Webb with Time Warner Cable. The current service is not at full speed so the internet connection may not be as fast as you are accustomed. We will continue working with Time Warner Cable to increase our connection speed. We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience during this outage. We will update you through email as we work to fully restore services.

Blackboard upgrades are finished, and Blackboard is available for faculty to update Spring 2015 courses. At this time, students may only access Fall 2014 courses. Happy New Year!

If you are on the main campus, please take time to visit the Tucker Student Center and give our new trial wireless system a workout! Devices you have previously used in TSC will connect automatically to the new system. Students, faculty, and staff should check their email boxes for full details. Let us know what you think.

Please be advised wireless on campus is being taken down from 4:30-5:00 pm today to apply an urgent firmware update. Tech Services will send a notification once the upgrade is complete, and you should restart your wireless devices after that to reconnect. Thank you!

McGraw-Hill Education and Pearson Digital Solutions have notified Technology Services that they will be updating their in-Blackboard services Saturday, June 28th which will require a mandatory restart of the Blackboard system. We recognize the negative impact of taking Blackboard offline during the weekend. Therefore, in an effort to minimize the disruption to the majority of students, we have postponed the restart until early Sunday morning, June 29th 6:00 AM- 7:00 AM. During this timeframe, Blackboard will be unavailable; WebbConnect and email will not be affected. Additionally, instructors and students, please be aware that McGraw-Hill/Pearson course content may be unavailable between June 28th, 12:01 AM to Sunday, June 29th, 7:00AM.

GWU Students, Faculty, Staff, Adjuncts, and Alumni may experience some periods of email access being down today and tomorrow as Technology Services works to migrate email accounts. For Outlook users, new emails will not be received and outgoing messages will be held in one's Outbox until able to send; accounts set up on mobile phones will display a failed authentication message; and web site users (WebbConnect and outlook.com/gardner-webb.edu) may not be able to log into email during these times. We will send an update when all services have been restored.

Monday, March 10, 2014 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Technology Services will be updating network equipment which will affect all network services including wireless on campus. Access to services that we provide off campus such as Blackboard will also be affected. We have chosen a day the campus is closed so as few people as possible will be inconvenienced. All services should be restored by 5:00 pm on the same day.
