Prophet 21 users: Epicor just gave on-premises support a real end date. June 30, 2029.

Epicor announced this back in January, but it's still catching a lot of P21 users off guard. On-premises Prophet 21 gets one more feature release (version 2028.1, targeted for May 2028), then active support through June 30, 2029.

After that, it's sustaining support only, no security patches, no compliance updates, nothing new added to the system. It'll keep running. It just won't get any better while the risk keeps adding up in the background.

We put together a full breakdown: the actual timeline, who's affected (on-prem and self-hosted, not Epicor-managed cloud), and what's worth thinking through if a new ERP ends up on the table. Not a pitch, just what we'd want to know if we were running P21 today.

Full breakdown linked below, worth a read if P21 is running your business right now.

Here's the full breakdown:

Job profitability is almost always a lagging number in field operations. By the time you see it, the job is closed.

This isn't a bidding problem. It's a visibility problem.

The information exists. It's in the field hours, the material tickets, the change orders. But it doesn't come together in one place until invoicing. And at invoicing there's nothing left to fix.

I've spent 27 years working with mid-market operations in the coatings industry. This is the pattern I see more than any other in field-based contracting.

On June 10 , Stephanie McColly is hosting a free session to walk through the Field Operations Visibility Framework with painting contractors and applicators who want to close this gap.

In 60 minutes you'll have a clear picture of where your jobs are losing margin and what to fix first.

If you’re trying to figure out how to scale operations right now, here’s the part most teams miss:

Look at how much extra effort it takes to keep things working.

If growth is starting to mean:
– more checking before decisions
– more coordination across teams
– more time validating instead of moving

that’s where the conversation starts.

You may be asking yourself:
Can we keep running it like this?
Or is this going to get harder every time things pick up?

That’s the part most leaders sit with longer than they expect.

We broke down where this shows up first and how teams decide if they can keep running it this way.

For many manufacturing and distribution teams, year-end inventory reviews raise a bigger question than expected: Are these discrepancies operational issues, or system limitations surfacing under pressure?

This article explains how post year-end inventory results often expose reporting gaps, process constraints, or visibility issues that legacy systems struggle to handle and how leaders can interpret the signals correctly before making their next move. Read More Below:

Practical guidance for manufacturing and distribution teams on reviewing year-end inventory variances without overreacting or disrupting operations.
