We have been getting several calls regarding Microsoft's recent aggressive push to upgrade everyone to Windows 10. If you delay the install and then choose to opt out of requests, you should still be able to stop the upgrades from happening. We have witnessed a 15 minute timer that counts down and just starts the upgrade if you do not intervene.

The real question is, should you upgrade? In our opinion, if you are running Windows 8, then the upgrade is actually quite an improvement. If you have and are happy with Windows 7, then we recommend not upgrading at this time, as Windows 7 is supported until 2020. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to give us a call.

As promised, we do not post and fill up your news feed unless there is a promotion or concern worth noting. Today we want to bring to your attention an alarming issue that is springing up with our customers. Crypto Viruses. These usually come in an attachment with a .doc .xls .zip or sometimes other extensions. Opening one of these infected files will scan your hard drive for known file types and encrypt them, making them unusable. This will include, documents, pictures, movies, pretty much everything on your hard drive. The only way to get your files back is to pay a ransom to the creators, that is usually around $500, but in some cases can be higher. The only way not to pay the ransom is to remove the virus and restore from backup. Please give us a call if you need help creating a backup, or have any other concerns. Be Safe!

We have had reports of a new malware product that brings up a webpage and begins speaking in a soft female voice telling you that your computer is infected with a virus and that you need to purchase removal software. If you hear this, immediately turn off your computer and you should be able to interrupt the download of the malware. If you catch it in time, no further action will be necessary.
