House hearing details cyber resilience efforts for energy, water and healthcare
In a report by David Jones on May 17, 2023, it was revealed that US federal agencies are increasing their efforts to enhance intelligence sharing and industry resilience due to a surge in cyber threats. During a congressional hearing, representatives from the Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Health and Human Services discussed their responses towards the growing threats against the energy, water, and healthcare industries. Since 2019, the US intelligence community's annual threat assessment has consistently identified persistent and malicious threats against infrastructure, warning of Russia and China's cyber capability to disrupt US energy services. HHS has also introduced initiatives to ensure hospitals are prepared for potential attacks.
