will be releasing my collection, Four World’s and Counting, which contains both my first Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine short story and Novella, as an audiobook narrated by AI.

AI is better, pretty consistently, than the standard text to voice feature accessibility feature in most devices.

Keep reading to find out what I’m going to do with this huge cash windfall.

My friend Amanda Rose Smith has said on her page, is an increasingly downmarket product, (hope I got that right) nothing most folks who aren’t rockstars can live on; think royalty free stock photo illustration catalogs, the work most impacted by AI, where images go for a buck and the artist/photographer gets 30 cents)

So here is what I plan on doing with my ill-gotten gains.

I’m going to donate the first 100 dollars I might possibly make to the politician who crafted this bill, adding to it another 100 of my own, doubling your contribution:

https://malegislature.gov/Bills/193/H1873/BillHistory

An Act preventing a dystopian work environment.

I’ll tell him why he’s getting the money, for coming up with this.

After that first 100, I will use all following monies earned toward paying a voice actor where there is enough money to hire one.

So, whenI get to 1100 bucks, this collection will have enriched a human actor, and fought for their workplace protection.

I’ll keep the money after that, happy in the fact that I am part of the solution to AI disruption.

Of course, I’ll never reach either milestone.

I could never afford to pay a voice actor to do this title. The manner in which I am somehow defunding a voice actor is hard to articulate.

The voice work would cost me at least 1000 dollars. I hav made to date maybe 50 on this reprint ebook. (I made about 2k in the original magazine publications.)

Asimov’s gives away a few of my stories on-line as podcasts. Interestingly, nobody cares about this robbing voice actors of income.

So, please buy this if you want to listen to these works, knowing you are helping voice actors and in fact, every worker impacted by AI.

I did the typography and some minor surgery / processing on the underlying painting to make this for Yaroslav Barsukov.

The author was another great client who understood what he wanted in a cover, and helped me create it for him.

This is another example of an Audible cover conversion, where I did the ebook and print wraparound.

Creating a consistent brand for a series of thrillers was a challenging and fun part of this commission for my friend Ed McFadden, a great writer and publisher who knows exactly what he wants, and what works, in a cover.

I wish I had a dozen clients like him.

I love how this came out. I did the e-book and POD cover as well, but making this work in the square aspect ratio took some doing, and turned out to be the best of the three compositions!

Very happy with how these, my last two Roger Zelazny covers came out. Thanks to Warren Lapine, again, for hiring me to help keep these great titles in print.

I'm collaborating with other artists now to design and produce covers that don't use royalty free stock art as a source material; this guarantees a totally custom cover. It costs more, but it can be worth it depending on the title.

My friends in big-five (is it four yet?) publishing tell me that a heavy design pass (the kind I do) on top of royalty free stock is being used by the biggest publishers in the business, on everything but their biggest bets. So people should feel good about buying my work made that way, too. It's still professional.

Finally, if you have found--and licensed!--your own image, I can do typography, branding, correction, retouching, ebook and print on demand book creation at an affordable rate; this is more DIY, you find the image, but I make it work as a book cover.

TIP: If a piece of art works well as a standalone... it's kinda hard to make it into a cover. You want a pro. Balancing the focal points in the image with the cover content. Avoiding ugly crop points. Handling color and luminance issues to make the type read, etc.
