Why did we start Juett Tech Rescue?

It's the fastest-growing solid waste stream on Earth, and we believe that residents and businesses shouldn't have to choose between hauling everything themselves to a facility with fees or searching for the best-priced general recycler, which can skew expensive/not have upfront pricing or not even handle the full process.

In a nutshell, it's all about making the right thing to do actually accessible to the community through decentralized private solutions like our business, instead of EPR laws that will ultimately make prices higher for consumers. We want to target the issue head on, and have as much of an impact as possible for the community. Furthermore, our impact extends through donations built from every pickup, routed to Basel Action Network, an organization that helps safeguard our entire world. 🌎💚

Juett Tech Rescue LLC (CU Boulder Student-Run business) has come a long way, and it all started right here Facebook and Nextdoor months ago.

When I launched my business in February, Nextdoor/Facebook served as a primary platform where I met some of my first customers, which built the foundation of what we are today.

After months of hard labor as a solo operation, busy pickups, trial and error building and learning, I am so thrilled to officially announce our B2B partnership with an international leader in e-waste recycling, DRM Worldwide. CALLING ALL Ned Heads !!!!! ANNOUNCEMENT!

Juett Tech Rescue LLC (juetttechrescue.org) will be conducting an 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰-𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽-𝗼𝗳𝗳 & 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗯𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗘𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗, 𝗦𝗢𝗢𝗡!

We've received requests from some Nederland residents to host an event like this, and we're now planning it!

We're a CU Boulder student-founded and student-run business that noticed a real sustainability gap in our community and is working to fill it. Right now, people either have to haul their e-waste to a facility themselves and pay processing fees, or hunt for the best-priced general junk service that will take it. We exist to fill that gap: we make e-waste recycling convenient and fairly priced, and therefore accessible.

Comment below, or DM us through here (or email [email protected]) If you're a Nederland resident and interested! If at least 20 people show interest, we'll set up at the RTD station one weekend, and you can drive by and drop off your electronics. That same weekend, we'll also offer door-to-door pickups in the area (our standard service) if you can't make it. And since it's a group pickup weekend, each participating household saves $5 to $10 through our Neighborhood Bundle pricing (see the pricing section at juetttechrescue.org). Right now, we're just gauging community interest beyond the requests we've already received.

E-waste is the fastest-growing solid waste stream in the world, and it accounts for roughly 70% of the toxicity in landfills when it ends up there. No one in Boulder County was targeting e-waste management head-on, so Juett Tech Rescue was built to do exactly that. We handle everything: data wiping if needed, certified recycling, and refurbishment when possible for resale (putting some money back in your pocket) or donation. So far, we've completed 56 pickups, diverted over 2,245 lbs of e-waste from the landfill, and refurbished and repurposed 11 items, with a partnership with a national IT asset disposition and refurbishment company currently in the works.
