I hope everyone’s enjoying this last full week of the holiday season! There’s plenty of freshly fallen snow here in Colorado, but a different set of lyrics keeps running through my head... ❄️🎶💗

Ohhhhh, the weather outside may be frightful, but you know what’s dreamy and delightful? ❄️🥰 Celebrating the holidays without harming animals!

🎶 And since we love animals sooooo…
Let them grow, let them grow, let them grow! 🎶

When you leave animals off your holiday plate (and every other plate!), you allow them to live out their lives free from harm. And that’s only right…right?

Because, just like us, nonhuman animals deserve to have lives filled with freedom, joy, and contentment. They should get the chance to frolic in the fields, bask in the sunshine, and cuddle with their companions!* 🐮🐷🐤

Are you keeping your holidays humane? If so, we want to thank you from the bottoms of our bovine-loving hearts. The fire may be slowly dying, but because of your compassion, animals are living their best lives! 🔥

Or maybe you’re new here, still dipping your toe into the crystal-clear waters of vegan living? In that case, welcome! 👋 Dig into alllll of the good stuff we’ve shared in our feed — cooking up delicious side dishes, replacing dairy in your coffee, helping animals without harming your mental health — and soooo much more.

Go on, grab some corn for popping, and take a look around. 👀 You’ll find heaps of ready-made resources at your fingertips…and that doesn’t show signs of stopping!

From all of us at to all of you — have a warm, safe, compassionate holiday — and a Happy New Year! 🥳💗🎊

*P.S. Frolicking is a radically underrated activity for all species. Give it a try this season!

How should you celebrate International Podcast Day? By listening to my recent interview with Paws for Effect, of course! 🎧

Hosted by my highly entertaining friend and client — Lisa Rimmert at On The Nose — Paws for Effect features guests who all have one thing in common: they communicate about animals. 🐾💚📣

Our conversation touched on everything from my creative process to animal advocacy and apostrophe pet peeves…plus sooooo much more.

Go on, hit “play” while tackling your daily chores, walking your furry friend, or doing absolutely nothing (yup, we covered that last one, too).

Oh, and if you’re wondering why I’m posing with a cauliflower in this photo…well, you’ll just have to listen and find out! 😉

Cured salmon — or lox — is a salty mainstay on bagels, deli trays, and kitchen tables everywhere. 🐟

For observant Jews, lox is one of the few forms of seafood deemed kosher, or “fit to eat.” But do most salmon swim along serenely, undisturbed by human interference, until the inevitable net descends? Far from it. And how about those with a kosher label affixed to their fins? By now, you know the answer: de-fin-itely not.

In fact, the vast majority of kosher-certified salmon are systematically bred, confined, and killed just like every other fish…in an intensive (and abusive) factory farm setting. Severely cramped conditions, open lesions, and diseases are the norm for these sensitive creatures who — studies prove — absolutely *do* experience stress, fear, and pain.

Still, millions of consumers — especially those who observe Jewish dietary laws — are *strategically misled* to believe that aquatic animals raised under kosher guidelines have better lives (and deaths). 😡 It’s time to shine a light on the deceptive and unethical practice of kosher “humanewashing,” and I’m proud to partner with Jewish Initiative for Animals to do just that! ✨

We recently launched a billboard, print, and social media campaign that features popular Jewish comfort foods, paired with their animal of origin. Take a look at these images, and ask yourself: “Is this kosher?” If something feels fishy, visit www.isthiskosher.org (link in bio) to find out the facts and take positive action. ✅

Next time you need something to nosh on, fish around for some compassionate alternatives to lox. After all, there are plenty of plant-based snacks in the sea…er, supermarket! 🌱

Nothing’s more basic and reliable than a bagel and schmear — specifically cream cheese. 🥯

Hungry humans scarf down this “go-to” spread for breakfast, lunch, and any other time our taste buds demand it. But what about the cows whose milk makes up this schmear — are their lives impacted by our late night snacks? Udderly. And how about dairy products slapped with a “kosher” sticker — will we find those cows grazing in green pastures? Uhhhh, nope.

In fact, the vast majority of kosher-certified dairy cows are bred, raised, and killed like all dairy cows…in an intensive (and abusive) factory farm setting. Confined to small pens, cows are impregnated to produce milk for humans, and their babies are stolen from them soon after birth. Depending on their gender, calves are either slaughtered for veal or enter the vicious dairy cycle themselves.

Still, millions of consumers — especially those who observe Jewish dietary laws — are *strategically misled* to believe that animals raised under kosher guidelines have better lives (and deaths). 😡

It’s time to shine a light on the deceptive and unethical practice of kosher “humanewashing,” and I’m proud to partner with Jewish Initiative for Animals to do just that! ✨

Next time you crave an “everything” bagel, ditch the dairy and top it with a plant-based schmear. And start feeling better about…well, everything! 😅
