Your mission may be inspiring. But can a donor tell exactly what their gift will make possible?

That’s where a lot of nonprofit fundraising gets stuck.

In our latest blog, we break down the difference between your mission and your donor offer — and why making that distinction can lead to stronger, clearer fundraising appeals.

Because “support our mission” is very different from “your $60 gift will provide…”

Some leadership lessons take decades to learn.

After years of building businesses, leading people and advising organizations, our founder and CEO learned that some of the most valuable lessons come from mistakes, difficult decisions and a few scars along the way.

Knowing which battles matter. Choosing the right people. Facing problems early. Protecting the value of your expertise. And, perhaps most importantly, learning not to let fear make your decisions.

December is for harvesting trust, not manufacturing it.

If your organization is waiting until November to think about year-end fundraising, you’re already running short on the most valuable ingredient: time.

The strongest appeals begin months earlier—with a clear case for giving, the right story, thoughtful donor segmentation and a plan to build momentum before the ask.

Our latest blog shares 5 ways your nonprofit can prepare now for a stronger year-end campaign, plus a fillable Year-End Campaign Readiness Checklist to help your team get started.

Don’t wait for December to start building the relationship. Start now.

Not every campaign succeeds right away — and that doesn’t mean it has failed.

The strongest campaigns are often the ones that evolve through testing, learning, and improving.

The difference between perseverance and stubbornness?

Perseverance means staying focused on the goal while adjusting the strategy.

Before abandoning a campaign, ask: What did we learn? What can we improve? Have we given it enough time?

Sometimes a campaign doesn’t need to be replaced. It just needs another smart iteration.

Your organization may not need a new logo.

It may need clarity.

After more than 30 years of working with brands, we have seen the same pattern again and again: leaders know something feels off. The website feels outdated. The messaging no longer fits. The brand doesn’t seem to reflect where the organization is headed.

The instinct is often: “We need a rebrand.”

And sometimes that is true.

But a successful rebrand starts with asking deeper questions:

✔️ Are people clear about who we are and what we do?
✔️ Are we reaching the right audience?
✔️ Does our message reflect our mission and future?
✔️ Are we building trust at every touchpoint?

A new logo can create attention.

A clear brand creates momentum.

Before you change the colors, fonts, or visuals, start with the foundation: your message, your audience, and the story you want people to understand.

What is the return on donor acquisition?

It's a question every nonprofit board should be asking.

The strongest organizations five years from now won't just be the ones with the biggest grants or the most successful fundraising events. They'll be the ones that consistently bring new people into their mission.

Because donor acquisition isn't just about raising money today—it's about building tomorrow's community of supporters, advocates, and lifelong donors.

▪️ Bring the numbers.
▪️ Track the results.
▪️ Build lasting relationships.

Our latest blog, "The Tough Question Your Board Is Right to Ask," explains how a measurable donor acquisition strategy can strengthen your organization's future.

Are you asking donors to fund today’s needs, or inviting them to shape the organization’s future?

A new Giving USA report is encouraging. Generosity is alive and well. But the organizations that benefit most from the coming transfer of wealth will not be the ones that suddenly launch a planned-giving page. They will be the ones that have spent years earning the kind of trust that outlives the donor.

Tomorrow’s transformational gift begins with today’s relationship.

Reach out to us if your organization needs a stronger strategy for individual, major or legacy giving.

A few months ago, our CEO traded city life for life on a farm.

These days, the view includes horses, cows, and chickens instead of traffic jams and crowded parking lots. What he didn't expect was how much the change would impact the way he thinks.

He's discovered something many leaders struggle to find: mental space.

When we're constantly responding to emails, meetings, and notifications, it's easy to confuse activity with progress. But creativity and strategic thinking rarely happen in the middle of chaos. They happen when we create space to think.

You don't need to move to a farm to make that happen. Sometimes it's as simple as changing your environment, reducing distractions, or scheduling time to think.

Leadership isn't just about solving today's problems. It's about recognizing tomorrow's opportunities.

Read the full blog to learn why creating margin may be one of the most valuable things a leader can do.

Marketing can accelerate a healthy business.

It can clarify your message, generate demand, create leads, reactivate customers, and help you grow, but it cannot compensate for a business model that has outgrown its own revenue reality.

That’s where leadership has to step in.

Sometimes the bravest thing a leader can do is not demand more from marketing. It is to ask better questions. Read our latest blog for the questions strong leaders should be asking to ensure their business is healthy enough to handle growth.

Most website issues aren’t design problems—they’re messaging problems.

Before a redesign, ask: is your message clear?

Your site should quickly answer who you are, what you do, why it matters, and what to do next.

Clarity beats complexity—and often beats a costly redesign. Before you spend tens of thousands of dollars on a redesign, take time to audit your content first. Read our latest blog for the 7 questions every organization should be asking.
