The DM-4R. Still the best DMR radio under $100. No gimmicks, just a solid, field programmable DMR with the best features from the commercial and open source worlds. Imports radioID, repeater book, and opengd77 CSV files. And it keeps getting better.

Blew out another LDMOS. Would like to say it wasn’t my fault, but I left the 24 volt supply on while testing components even though the Amp was switched off. “Off” in this case means the bias circuit and the input is disabled. 24 Volts is still running to the drain.

This is pretty funny. I didn’t know my comment was tied to a post on an exclusive club. I must apologize for intruding.

But my comment was in response to someone seeing 2m harmonics on a Baofeng product. I responded that there is a price points at which it is not cost effective to design a good pass band filter into the radio and they will only add it if you complain.

Why do we call this 12AH our SOTA battery? Well for one it weighs a little over 2lbs. It delivers 20A at 11.5 volts and 17 amps at 12 volts. That's continuous, not peak. This little battery can drive a rig at 85 to 90 watts of output, but the typical use case is 10 to 20 watts because who wants to lug a IC-7300 up a mountain? This is not your Elmer's off the shelf battery. We designed it with SOTA in mind, but it fits nicely in any lightweight go bag.
Yes there are cheaper options, but the typical low cost 12AH battery weighs 3 to 4 los and delivers 6 to 10 amp peak current which is not great for SOTA or a go bag.
