I am grateful have graduated from Leadership Fayette last week with such a wonderful group! This professional development program has made a significant positive impact in my approach to projects and my beloved customers. I'm so thankful for the people, conversations, and perspectives that made these past nine months so valuable. Our cohort plans to continue to get together, which will help continue our ongoing friendship and growth! Thank you to Fay-Penn Economic Development Council and the Fayette Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Emily Dennis for this opportunity!

I wanted to give a shout out to a person I know who has quietly and consistently been a fantastic CHAMPION for local small business and in this case, for my business, since I opened in 2014. From almost as far back as I can scroll on here, Sally J Newcomer has been reliably supporting me with a like, a comment, or a share on nearly every post I have.

Sally and I worked together at Mark IV Printing, and back then, she and her BFF Cathy would attend many Chamber Business After Hours events (unpaid!) to support the community, because she knew making connections and supporting other small businesses was important. Even now, in her retirement, she is always sharing and liking local business posts, and reminding people in her circle to make use of those of us around here who have small companies. Sally was always someone who would give me good, sound advice and was a great listening ear when we were at work. Even though she's too young to be so, because of her wisdom, I've always called her "mom."

For the past 12 years, while I’ve posted bits and pieces about my work on Facebook, Sally has been intentional about supporting me and so many other local businesses along the way. It’s hard to fully put into words what that kind of consistency means to a "little guy" like me. When I look back, what I see is a friend who, through her actions, says, “I believe in you.” And that extends beyond me to our whole community and the idea of supporting local in a real way.

I wanted to meaningfully recognize this and so I’ve created a little award to honor people who have supported Reach Marketing and Design and me along the way. So... allow me to unveil the initial "Sally Newcomer Award" to its first winner and namesake. Sally loves American Flags so of course, that is our theme! I have a little gift for her, too. Thank you, Sally, for the encouragement, for the consistency, and for believing in people the way you do!

I appreciated the chance to attend a thoughtful discussion today facilitated by the Great Allegheny Passage Conservancy focused on Ohiopyle, trail-based tourism, and the opportunities and challenges facing local communities and businesses.

It was also such a pleasure to gather in Touchstone Center for Crafts' newly acquired Ohiopyle location (the former Falls City Baptist Church), which was a perfect setting for the meeting!

GO Laurel Highlands knocked it out of the park AGAIN today with their Spring Marketing Summit! I was representing the Fayette Chamber of Commerce and learned so much. I was especially stoked to learn more about Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). Which is a way for businesses and organizations to be cited or recommended by AI driven search engines.

I’ve been working on my GEO skills recently, and I am always glad to learn more!

Today is National Leadership Day and I am proud to be spending it at Leadership Fayette!

Investing time in leadership development is one of the most important commitments we can make to our community. Today’s session has been engaging, insightful, and a great reminder that leadership is about growth, service, and accountability.

I'm so thankful to be participating and to be part of a class focused on strengthening Fayette County.

The largest contributor to the growth of my business in the past 11 years that I’ve been open has been my membership with (and… very important… participation in) the Fayette Chamber of Commerce. I have met so many good people this way and built great friendships and business partnerships. They hold interesting events to attend, great education opportunities, resourceful business help when you need it, and they foster the growth of our county as a whole. When everyone does better, everyone does better! Thank you Fayette Chamber!

Hello, Friends! I learned that there were people who were kind enough to nominate my business to be entered into the Best in Fayette Awards- which I thank you for! That felt really good to know! 🥰

I wanted to say that while I appreciate it so much, I've kindly requested to have my business name removed from the list. There were a few reasons for this both personal and professional, but the one I want to mention here fact that I truly believe that each company/organization excels at different work and we all are doing the very best we can. We all are the BEST in different ways!

I would never want to take from anyone's award(s) that they win, and I know it's a fun local contest- know that I am cheering for all of you, this is just a decision that I made for my own company.
