You'd assume that when a firm in Brunswick gets hit with ransomware, there's a personal reason behind it.

Most of the time, it's because an automated scanner found an exposed remote desktop port, ran a list of common passwords against it, and got in on the third try, and the rest happened on rails. The script that did it has no idea what the company does for a living and didn't care to find out.

The targeting is mechanical. The defense must be too.
