At the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), students are gaining real-world experience by bringing ideas to life through additive manufacturing.

With students producing approximately 2,000–2,500 parts each quarter, finding an efficient way to manage post-processing was essential to keeping projects on track throughout SCAD’s accelerated 10-week academic calendar.

By integrating the PostProcess BASE and DEMI 830, SCAD automated FDM & PolyJet support removal across both technologies, reducing manual labor, increasing efficiency and giving students more time to design, experiment, and bring their projects to life.

This is not only an example of how automated post-processing can support production efficiency, but also impact the hands-on learning experience at the heart of additive manufacturing education.

“We needed an automated post-processing solution that would protect delicate part features while replacing IPA with a safer, longer-lasting cleaning solution. The PostProcess DEMI X 520 delivered on every requirement.”

For Stuller, delicate wax casting patterns for jewelry required a post-processing solution that can remove wax supports without compromising part quality.

With the PostProcess DEMI X 520 for Wax Removal, Stuller moved from manual, IPA-based cleaning to a hands-free workflow designed to protect delicate features while delivering more consistent results.

Less than a year after installation, the DEMI X 520 became part of Stuller’s daily production - helping reduce broken parts, manual labor, and safety concerns while creating a more consistent wax support removal process.

Environment. Health. Safety.

Three words that become even more important as additive manufacturing scales into production. Yet, the biggest EH&S challenges often begin after the print is complete.

In our latest white paper, we examine the risks associated with conventional post-processing workflows, such as open air dunk tanks, flammable solvents, and repetitive manual handling. These practices make it difficult to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.

To address these critical gaps in EH&S, we take a deeper dive into our automated, fully enclosed post-processing systems and how they can reduce chemical exposure, lower energy, minimize waste and create an overall cleaner production environment.

When you're producing FDM parts at scale, post-processing can quickly become the bottleneck.

For Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, traditional immersion-based support removal processing were creating bottlenecks, leading to long drying times, shipment delays, and high scrap rates.

By implementing the PostProcess BASE automated spray-based support removal system, they transformed a critical step in their workflow, supporting more efficient production for parts printed on their Stratasys FDM systems.

The results:
✔ 40% increase in throughput
✔ Reduced scrap from 50% to zero for a critical PC part
✔ Enabled same-day shipment for many applications
✔ Eliminated workflow bottlenecks and lab space constraints

Great conversation with 3DPrint.com and our CEO, Jeff Mize, at RAPID + TCT Event last week discussing where post-processing is headed and what manufacturers are prioritizing most!

Highlights included:

• Why safety remains a critical part of the post-processing conversation - especially as more manufacturers move away from open chemical dunk tanks and IPA workflows
• How increased print volumes are driving greater solution utilization, with customers using PostProcess solutions and consumables more regularly than ever
• The value of strategic partnerships, like our continued work with Stratasys, to help customers build complete end-to-end additive workflows

Check it out below:

The whole 3D printing workflow was on display in Boston at RAPID+TCT last week, from design software and 3D printing hardware all the way to post-processing and finishing solutions. For...
