Never leave a child, pet or anyone who cannot safely care for themselves alone in a vehicle—even if you're only stepping inside “for a minute.”

KNOW THE SIGNS OF HEAT ILLNESS

Extreme heat can become dangerous quickly. During this prolonged heatwave, check in on yourself and the people around you.

Watch for signs such as:

- Heavy sweating
- Headache
- Dizziness or weakness
- Nausea
- Unusual tiredness
- Confusion or unusual behavior
- Fainting or loss of consciousness

If someone is showing serious symptoms, move them out of the heat and seek emergency medical help.

And don’t forget to check on neighbors, family members, older adults and anyone who may be especially vulnerable to extreme heat.

A quick check-in could make a big difference.
