Boston Tech Week wrapped — and MacPaw had a full day in Cambridge 🐾

Three back-to-back events:
💭a morning workshop on scaling and monetizing apps (with speakers from Setapp, ByDesign, and the indie dev world),
💭an afternoon panel on what AI adoption actually looks like once you cut through the hype,
💭and an evening conversation on hybrid AI — cloud vs. on-device, and the real tradeoffs we hit building Eney, our on-device AI assistant for Mac.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, asked hard questions, and kept the conversations going long after the sessions ended 🙌

Apple spent years building M5's memory protections. It took six days to break them.

Also in this month's MainNews: WWDC 2026 rumors — smarter Siri, deeper Apple Intelligence, more customization, and possibly the end of Intel support on macOS.

MacPaw just shipped single-purpose apps on Setapp by MacPaw — here's exactly what they are.

Refolder sorts your folders automatically. Pinchbar handles copy, transform, and paste from one place — no window switching. The third is coming soon.

These aren't fully formed products yet. They're built around real user needs, shipped fast, and tested openly. The ones that prove their value will grow into the MacPaw ecosystem. The rest will make way for something better.

After 2–3 months, we'll share what we learned publicly.

Find them via the link in the comments.

Moonlock by MacPaw is launching Scam Detector 🔦 — a new feature that helps you check suspicious emails, links, chats, and messages for signs of phishing and manipulation before you click, reply, or panic.

https://moonlock.com

Phishing doesn’t look suspicious anymore.

Today’s scams are polished, personal, and often designed to make you react before you think. And with AI, they’re getting even more convincing.

A message from your bank.
A delivery update.
An urgent request from someone you trust.

That’s why Moonlock by MacPaw is launching Scam Detector — a new feature that helps you check suspicious emails, chats, and messages for signs of phishing and manipulation before you click, reply, or panic.

Here’s how it works:

Paste the content into Moonlock.
Get a scam probability score.
Understand what made it suspicious.
Decide what to do next.

According to our latest Mac Security Survey, 72% of Mac users already expect AI to make scams harder to catch. Scam Detector is built for that exact world.

Stay one step ahead of scams with Moonlock.

Cloud or on-device — when does each actually make sense?

MacPaw is hosting an evening panel at Boston Tech Week on May 29 in Cambridge on the shift to hybrid AI.

Moderated by Mohamad Kassab, Professor of Computer Science at Boston University, the discussion will cover real tradeoffs from building Eney, MacPaw's on-device AI assistant:

▪️when local models outperform
▪️when cloud still wins
▪️and what this actually means for product decisions

Most teams are somewhere in the middle of figuring this out. This session is for the ones ready to get specific about it.
