OK. Soap Box time.
Or I guess you could call it...

A Public Service Announcement

You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT, sell any electronic devices (smartphones, tablets, computers, etc.) that contain an account associated with it. For android, its your Google or Gmail account. For Windows, its you Microsoft account (hotmail, outlook, live, etc). And the big one, I am meaning the one with the biggest problems... Apple products (iPhones, iPads, laptops, etc.).

The accounts associated with all those devices MUST be removed before selling them, or at least do it after when the buyer cannot use it because of the seller's info.

For Android...
In settings, got to accounts, click on any account listed and remove it.
Needs to be done for any and all accounts listed there.
When you go to reset the phone, you need to uncheck the boxes associated with backup and auto restore.

You can also go to you Google account from any other device and there is a way to remove any and all devices there you no longer use or want.

For Windows...
First you have to add a generic account.
Go to settings, user accounts, add user, name it something like Windows User, or use the device brand, like HP User. Then skip the password. Do not add a password! Then change the account of this new user to be an administer. Log out. Log in using the new user account, go back to settings and users and remove your account. Remove all user accounts on the device except the one you just created.

Now, for Apple...
There are several steps that NEED to be done.
In settings, remove the user account.
Then go to any or all of the Apple account programs, iCloud, iTunes, and findmyphone.
You need to physically remove any and all devices that you no longer use or are planning to sell or give away.
Then you need to make sure you have removed all passcodes and fingerprint ID's.
Then reset the device to factory settings.

If anyone needs help doing this, I am more than happy to help you. FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Anyone selling a device that is not cleared and refuses to help the buyer get it cleared can be charged with a felony. It is very illegal to sell under false pretences!!!

I guarantee, the next items that come to me in this manner will be prosecuted!

If you have sold any item to me or anyone in the past few years and have cut contact with me after being told this needs done, you have until the end of the year to make it right. I have a list of people who have been doing this to me and my customers, on January 5th 2018, I am turning this list over to the authorities. Yes, the previous owners of the items can be found from the device itself, they will be notified and given a small time frame to make it right with the new owners of the items. If not, they will be prosecuted under the full extent of the law.

I am wanting to try to start recycling program for electronics. This includes cell phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, flat panel TVs and monitors. I am getting very passionate about keeping our dump sites free of electronics to help the environment.

I would be willing to purchase any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or TV (flat panel only) for $20 that is not working, broken, or unwanted. I prefer to have them given away as I am on disability and on very limited income. But it is worth it to me than to have them thrown away and not recycled properly, electronics need to be kept out of the dump sites.

The possibility of purchasing smartphones, tablets, and laptops for more than $20 depends on my financial situation at the time, AND if they have usable parts that I can pass on to those customers who can't afford to buy them new. I am also willing to even discount anything I have for sale with the trade in of your unwanted and/or broken, non working devices.

I am unable to justify purchasing older desktops as there is no real demand for them. If you can sell them, that's great, but if you can't, please don't throw them in the trash. I have a few ways for recycling all the devices listed.

I do not have a way at this time to recycle the older style box or CRT TVs on monitors. Sorry, but that requires a lot more than my ability at this time. Please share this and pass along to your friends and family.

Thanks!!!

Jim Hallock.
