Another day, another reminder that not all technology companies take security seriously.
PCMag is reporting that the Trump Mobile preorder site exposed customer data — names, emails, phone numbers, mailing addresses, and order details — all accessible due to a basic web vulnerability. The issue was only fixed after outside researchers publicly called it out.
This is exactly why “buyer beware” isn’t just a cliché in cybersecurity. It’s survival.
Not pointing fingers, but too many products are launched without proper security testing, without mature processes, and without the accountability that real technology companies build into their DNA. When a platform handling personal data can be compromised this easily, it tells you everything you need to know about the priorities behind it.
Security isn’t a bolt‑on. It’s not optional. And it’s not something you improvise after the fact.
If you’re trusting a company with your data, make sure they’ve earned that trust. Look for transparency, proven security practices, and a track record of handling vulnerabilities responsibly. Anything less is a gamble with your personal information.
Trusted technology isn’t about branding. It’s about discipline, engineering maturity, and respect for the people whose data you’re holding.
Choose wisely.
The security flaw also suggests the carrier only has about 10,000 unique customers and about 30,000 T1 phone preorders, according to two YouTubers alerted to the bug by a viewer.
