Guess the weight of this Live Oak. Here is a hint- it’s approximately the same as a white rhino, smaller adult African elephant, larger than a giraffe or American bison, similar to a some hippos. Who has the best guess. We removed this live oak for a customer who will have it milled and dried for live edge shelving. Thanks (you know who you are) for saving this live oak that died and using it for good. Hopefully you’ll recognize this when it’s at its final destination in downtown Cibolo restaurant.

“Stickering” your lumber is the next step after you mill a log. Having a flat reference point to start the air drying process is just one of many aspects of making dry/flat lumber. 2.5” thick pecan from the banks of the Guadalupe Seguin Tx.

Thanks to friends holding toddlers, and the kindest, most patient man, Seth, the slabs are unloaded and ready for the kiln. Way to go James!! Also, we didn’t need the ratchet straps…thank goodness.

Good thing our 11 year old was taught how to drive a tractor. BD is out today, but I client needs to deliver a slab TODAY. I was told to get the ratchet straps…now what do those look like??

Don’t throw away your trees! They are a valuable natural resource. If they absolutely need to go, bring them to Duke Sawyer Lumber works so we can make something stunning out of them.
