"The Portland label Condition Human is normally a vehicle for founder Charles Teuhrne’s aliases, but here he’s welcomed in an old friend: Jeremy Turon from Oklahoma. Turon makes techno…of sorts. Some of this definitely is techno, and the rest audibly comes from the same processes; but it’s hard to pin down what exactly “the rest” might be. Those tracks sound more like they’ve been grown or cultured rather than made by machines. Everything feels steamy, mossy, smelly, gnarled, and whatever the tempo and whether it’s got a regular kick or not, it throbs and undulates, squirms and blurts. It’s an amazing thing to venture into, but it also feels like it might start growing on you in a very literal way."
