Chapel Hill has a LOT of Mexican restaurants. Like, a lot a lot.

So when the team behind Que Chula came to us with their new concept—Xolos Tacos & Tlayudas—we knew the brand had to work harder than the kitchen (and trust us, that kitchen works hard).

We built their identity around a p***y xolo dog, vintage Mexican design influences, and colors bold enough to match their Oaxacan flavors. No tired clichés. No looking like every other taqueria.

The result? Customers are saying things like “the food tastes like a painting come to life” and the place has a 4.7-star rating on Google.

That’s the difference a distinctive brand makes when you’re competing in a crowded market. 🌮

We are SO excited to announce the upcoming launch of the TriRiver Water brand.

TriRiver Water emerged from the merger of Sanford Water and Pittsboro Water, uniting to serve a broader community with water and wastewater services. The City of Sanford reached out to us to create a new name, brand strategy, and visual identity that would capture the essence of both locales, positioning them as a pillar of sustainable growth and environmental stewardship.

In choosing the new name, we strategically focused on elements that represented the area while allowing TriRiver the flexibility to grow through future acquisitions or mergers. This led to selecting the name “TriRiver,” referencing the three rivers feeding into the Cape Fear Water Basin, which serves as TriRiver’s source. Even with potential additions of new towns, the source remains the same.

The new logo features the convergence of these rivers, symbolizing both the merger and the collective mission. The overall visual direction of the brand incorporates elements of water flow and natural colors with a modern approach, representing the organization’s forward movement and ability to keep pace with rapidly growing communities.

Beginning in July, residents in Sanford and Pittsboro can expect to see the TriRiver Water brand in place of City of Sanford or Town of Pittsboro on all communications, uniforms, vehicles, and equipment associated with water and wastewater provision.

The City of Sanford will provide water and wastewater services as TriRiver Water starting in July.

Hello you! I know you're busy, so I'll get right to it. I'm Caity. I'm a "work smarter not harder" business & design nerd with a background working for nonprofits, startups, and sustainability companies. I've worn many hats in my career and know what it's like to have big goals with a small team.

I started Carrboro Creative because I saw an opportunity to do things differently. Most companies these days don't have an in-house design team, or if they do, it's usually just one or two people with more work than they can handle. I realized I could be most effective as a designer by helping these companies stay agile while also getting high quality, effective design.
