One of the most impressive demonstrations I've seen so far at InfoComm was an immersive room that completely surrounded participants with interactive virtual environments. The experience was far beyond simply watching a screen it felt like you were actually inside the scenario.
My first thought was how valuable this could be for education. For example, nursing students can't always be taken to the scene of a vehicle accident or emergency situation for training. With technology like this, realistic emergency environments can be brought directly into the classroom, allowing students to gain experience in situations that would otherwise be difficult, expensive, or impossible to recreate.
I also see tremendous potential for law enforcement and public safety agencies. Imagine combining this type of immersive environment with platforms such as MTac and 360-degree cameras. A tactical operations director could not only monitor an operation but feel as though they were standing in the middle of it, maintaining complete situational awareness without missing critical details.
Trade shows like InfoComm aren't just about seeing new products they're about discovering new ways technology can improve training, safety, and decision-making.
