I was very pleased to accept the Community Impact Award recognition from the GAACC this past weekend.

I wanted to acknowledge several people that were instrumental to my success and journey within the Austin business community:

1. My co-founders of TACC over 25 years ago, including the late David Chan, John and Lucia Hur, Dr. Mitchel Wong, Dr. Foo Swadee and Dr W. Delco.
2. Mr. Angelos Angelou of Angelou Economics called me in 1998 and said Mayor Bruce Todd asked him to find an Asian Entrepreneur to start up an Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce with one of the main goals of helping Austin businesses to recruit Asian Engineers and Technology Entrepreneurs to Austin.

Moving to Austin in 1975 to join IBM has been a wonderful and thrilling journey for me so far and hopefully there will be many more thrills and opportunities to help Austin become an even greater place for all.

McKneely will receive the Abe Venable Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement presented by the Minority Business Development Agency and the U.S. Department of Commerce. This award is granted to an individual who has played an integral role in the creative, technical or professional progress of minority business development over the course of his life.
