As you get to know your target audience, we suggest creating an avatar for this “ideal customer.” Make them an actual human with a name, age, interests, education, personal and professional motivation, family type, etc. This will help you speak to them more directly and effectively.

One of the best ways to improve your overall SEO strategy is through internal link building.

Simply put, internal link building means that individual articles on your site link over to several relevant articles or pages on your site.

This is important because it shows users (and crawl bots) the structure of your website and makes it easier for users to find relevant content on your site through linked topics.

A keyword is not SEO’s best friend forever.

Unlike the unbreakable bond of BFFs, keywords come and go in SEO’s radar. Their popularity is different based on factors like where they’re being searched for.

When you regularly update content on your website, be sure to check what keywords you’re currently ranking for, which ones you want to rank for, and which ones you used to rank for and need to patch things up with (one good tool for that is UberSuggest.com). Use multiple keywords each time you update your site, add content that directly benefits the customer (like answering common questions), and make it easy for customers to navigate to the new content.

When was the last time you did some A/B testing?

Normally we think of A/B testing for ads only, but did you know that it can be useful for website landing pages and other marketing or sales content, as well?

Conducting A/B testing beyond ads allows you to collect valuable data that you can use to adjust your practices. For example, you can test how the design of a landing page affects the bounce rate of users or what parts of the page they navigate to. It could even be as simple as testing different placements of a button or link to see where users are more likely to interact with it.

If you’re not already, make sure data and analytics is a part of your internal marketing conversations in order to get a higher return on investment for your efforts.

You should be routinely learning about your customers. Their behaviors, purchase patterns, interests, etc.

One of our favorite places to start doing that is Google Analytics.

You can also learn about your customers after events, through drip email campaigns, etc - the sky's the limit.
