What is Product Insider and how does it work?

It’s a mobile app that allows you to search for personal care products and exclude toxic ingredients that you select from the search results. For example, if you are looking for shampoo without sulfates, you select the Shampoo category and then select Sulfates as the ingredient you don’t want in your products, you will get back a list of shampoo’s that don’t have sulfates in them. The app also has features for more in depth data on ingredients. Try it out! It’s free and doesn’t cost anything to use so there is no risk. New products are added daily. Currently, there are over 37,000 products in the databases. Let us know if you have other questions 😀

Product Insider mobile application is now available for Beta Testing and you are invited to Beta Test!

It is currently available for iOS only so you must have an iPhone with an operating system of 12.0 or higher. It is currently in the App Store TestFlight sandbox. You will be required to install TestFlight before being able to install the mobile application.

Description of Mobile Application:
Product Insider mobile application will allow the user to search for personal care products based on category then refine their search based on known toxic ingredients they would like to exclude from the results. This mobile application will direct the user to a website where the search will be performed. The search results will display a list of products matching the search criteria as well as a link to the product on Amazon.com or another site to purchase a specific product.
This mobile application will also display a list of the Chemicals of Concern as reported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The user can also display a list of Lower Risk Products that do not contain any of the toxic chemicals that are in our databases.
Another function of this mobile application allows the user to enter a minimum of the first three letters (for lookup function) of a chemical compound (usually found on a personal care product ingredients list) and search the PubChem databases for data related to that particular ingredient. Links directly to the chemical's information are available through the mobile application for topic areas: Summary Overview, Classification, Safety & Hazards Info., First Aid Measures, EPA Toxicity Data, Health Data, Environmental Data, Synonyms.
The full data set of products is not available during the beta testing. Only 96 hair products will be available during the beta test phase.
