Ordered a used UPS (battery backup) off eBay (for use in-house). First FedEx delivered to wrong address. I contacted them and they found it, just received it and this is what I found.

This is a laptop I was working on today that had a hard drive failure, except there was no "user serviceable" replacement, as this system only had a "chip-on drive," known as an eMMC (Embedded Multi-Media Card). Luckily there was a working slot for a SSD (solid state drive).
Some laptop models only have an eMMC. They're an attempt by manufacturers to save money and market more inexpensive options for consumers. My recommendation is to avoid these systems. If the built in drive fails there is generally not much that can be done to recover data. Fortunately for this customer, I did have a backup of their files from a previous service appointment.
If a customer's drive contents are not too large I try to get a backup image just in case something like this happens.

Took my phone out of its case about an hour ago. Another Pixel 3XL swollen battery defect. Waiting on answer from Google to see if they'll pay for repairs or perhaps some other resolution.
If you have your phone in a case, you may not notice such a swollen battery either. May be a good idea to check.
