Misconception #5: women don't really work in this industry.
Wrong. Walk any scale house, yard, or convention floor and you'll find women running the scale, driving equipment, owning yards, and leading companies. We're not the exception here, we're part of the everyday. Recycling International's Top 100 highlights more women in scrap leadership every year, and groups like ReMA's Women in Recycling and NWRA's Women's Council have been building this community for years.
We're proof too. This industry runs on all of us.

Misconception #4: scrap yards are unregulated.
Wrong. Permits, EPA rules, ID checks, paperwork on every single transaction. This industry polices itself hard.

Is recycled metal worse than new metal?

Nope, and it's not close. When metal gets melted down, it doesn't lose its properties, it comes out chemically identical to virgin material.
