ARCHITECTURE: Last week while on assignments in Ohio, I traveled along some farmlands in the middle of Ohio. Growing up in Upstate New York I have always loved the simple architectural lines of barns. Some of my earliest paintings were of barns including several regional and national award winning prizes for my paintings. This barn caused me to slow down and explore. The shapes, the colors and sky were all calling me to capture this moment of light and shades. Yes, this image might just make its way to a canvas someday.

GOODNIGHT DANIEL ISLAND: The one night I missed it! I was stuck in my office tonight during a wonderful sunset light. It all happened and disappeared so quickly. I grabbed this quick iphone photo from my office location. BE PREPARED! I should have been out and about tonight, but for several reasons could not leave my office for the chase. Thinking of all the people preparing for the hurricane in Florida tonight. Sending positive vibes to all of Florida's population. My heart continues to go out to those in Asheville and beyond from last weeks storms. We have been blessed here on Daniel Island to escape so much destruction. Please be kind to all of your neighbors.

THE PORTRAIT: This image was taken last week on a college campus in Ohio. When photographing portraits I always look for compositional elements which can help tell the story of the subject. I noticed this caring professor would always take time to pause before giving a careful and thoughtful response to his students. The simple and uncluttered background ( the white board behind him) as well as the positioning of his hand were just several of the elements I needed to help create this portrait.

GOODNIGHT FROM DANIEL ISLAND: Chasing the sun tonight was a bit of a struggle. A few of my favorite marsh and landscape spots just didn't have that pop I was seeking. On my way back home I noticed the skies were getting better and more dramatic. Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church offers this amazing steeple which can be seen all over the Island. I arrived just in time and had perhaps 5 minutes before I lost the sunset skies I was looking for. Timing is everything. Be kind to one another.

JOYFUL WEDDINGS! An Indian Hindu wedding is strictly observed according to the ancient cultural norms laid down in the Vedas. In the Indian society a wedding is not just the coming together of two people rather two souls. In fact, a wedding also brings two families closer, which thereafter share a bond of respect and affection. I have been honored to be selected as the wedding photographer for a handful of Indian weddings. Look at the faces. Look at the joy that fills the entire scene. I love photographing these amazing events!

BRIDAL SESSION - PLAYING WITH LIGHT: When a bridal trusts your vision and is looking outside the box for her bridals....well that's music to my ears! We decided we would simply walk around and play with light, shadows and some drama. Seeking more of a high end fashion shoot, I was free to explore what works best for this bride. I noticed this sliver of light on this very dark wall. The light streak leads your eye directly to the bride. The contrast between the dark shadows and the pure white of her dress, gave us the drama we were looking for.

MOOD AT THE LOUVRE: It was a dark rainy day while on assignment for one of my college clients ( study abroad program). I decided that the gloomy light needed to be embraced. I converted the original image into a sepia toned BW image with the highlight being the underground glass pyramid designed by famed architect I.M.Pei. When you are in Paris this summer at the Olympics, check out this amazing Museum. This image was taken a few years ago, but little has changed at this amazing site. The only change in the landscape seems to be more political.

GOODNIGHT FROM DANIEL ISLAND: Tonight we chased the light of the setting sun over to the Park side of Daniel Island. This is the view of the Clubhouse from the back of the building with the golf course in the foreground. The clouds seem to change colors every 15 minutes or so. These pink and yellow hues really caught my eye at about 8:20 PM. This week we are seeing over 14 hours of daylight during the summer solstice.

GOODNIGHT FROM DANIEL ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA: It's been a good week for sky chasing here on Daniel Island. Tonight was no exception. I knew it was high tide tonight, so places I visited last week looked totally different. The higher waters, blended with the sunset light gave me new opportunities to explore.
