A slow computer isn't always a dead computer.

A lot of the "it's time for a new one" machines we see just need:
- A cleanup of startup programs and junk software
- A solid-state drive (SSD) to replace an old spinning hard drive
- More memory (RAM)

Those fixes can make a 5-year-old laptop feel new again, often in the same day.

And if it really is time to replace it, we'll tell you so. We sell refurbished and new computers, and we'll move your files over for you.

"He cleaned up my computer, got rid of the virus, and the speed is so much faster." - Susan F., Google review

Photos, school papers, 15 years of family pictures. When a drive starts failing, the first few decisions matter most.

If a hard drive is clicking, a laptop won't boot, or an external drive stops showing up:
1. Stop using it. Every restart can do more damage.
2. Skip the free recovery apps. Some of them write to the same drive you're trying to save.
3. Don't open it up or try the freezer trick.
4. Bring it in. If we can't recover your data, you don't pay for the evaluation.

"A file I had been working on off and on for years decided to corrupt itself... Tony was able to recover it within a short amount of time." - Megan K., Google review

If you've been in the shop, you've probably met Tony.

He's the one who'll diagnose your computer, fix it, and tell you what went wrong in words that actually make sense. A lot of our Google reviews mention him by name.

"Tony was friendly, patient, and educational." - Ian J.
"Explained very well to an old man." - David F.
"Honest, exhaustively thorough, and very helpful." - J. H.

Stop by and say hi, even if nothing's broken yet.

A loud pop-up says your computer is infected or locked and gives you a "Microsoft support" number to call.

It's a scam. Microsoft, Apple, and your bank will never put a phone number in a pop-up and ask you to call.

If it happens:
1. Don't call the number.
2. Don't let anyone connect to your computer remotely.
3. Hold the power button until the computer shuts off.
4. Bring it in before you log in to your bank or email again.

If you already called, let someone connect, or paid them, call your bank first, then bring the computer to us. We'll clean it up, check what they left behind, and help you lock down your accounts.

"They really cared and took the time to make sure my accounts were safe and cleaned up my device." - Jenny W., Google review

Share this with a parent or grandparent. Scammers target them the most.

One year ago today, Microsoft ended support for Windows 10.

If your computer still runs it, it's no longer getting regular security fixes. It will keep turning on and working, but it gets a little riskier every month, especially for online banking and email.

Here's how we sort it out:
1. Check if it qualifies. Windows 11 needs a supported processor and a security chip called TPM 2.0. On some computers, that chip is already there and just needs to be turned on.
2. If it qualifies but runs slow, upgrade the hardware. A solid-state drive and more memory can make Windows 11 run well on a computer that already meets the requirements.
3. If the processor isn't supported, no upgrade will fix that, and it's time to replace it. We sell refurbished and new computers and move your files over for you.

Not sure where yours lands? Bring it in and we'll check it and give you a straight answer.
