Interesting numbers coming out of the automotive industry as we start September.

Despite high vehicle prices, higher borrowing costs and plenty of economic uncertainty, customers are still buying.

But they’re buying differently.

They’re doing more research, comparing more and becoming much more educated before they ever speak with someone at a dealership. Cox Automotive says 63% of in-market shoppers expect to use AI during their next vehicle purchase.

That should get every dealer’s attention.

I don’t believe that means AI replaces the salesperson or BDC.

I think it means the human conversation matters even more.

Listen.
Understand.
Answer the question.
Build trust.
Follow up.

Technology can make us faster and more efficient, but technology by itself doesn’t sell cars.

Great people using great technology do.

That’s where I believe automotive retail is headed.

Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately:

Dealers have more technology than ever.

More AI.

More automation.

More CRM tools.

More data.

But a lot of stores are still struggling with the basics.

Are the leads actually being worked?

Are customers being followed up with consistently?

Are managers watching activity?

Are calls being listened to?

Are appointments being created?

That’s where I think our industry is getting it wrong.

AI is powerful, but AI doesn’t fix a bad process.

It amplifies whatever process you already have.

At Call Team Six, we believe in humans first, AI second.

We use AI and technology to make people faster, more consistent, and more accountable — not to replace the human conversation.

Because at the end of the day, customers still want someone who listens, understands what they need, answers their questions, and helps them make a well-informed decision.

The customer is changing.

The market is changing.

The technology is changing.

Dealership ex*****on has to change too.

That’s exactly what we’re building CT6 around.

No Lead Left Behind.

This Morning’s Automotive Snapshot Really Reinforced Something I’ve Believed For Years…

The automotive industry continues to evolve.

Sales remain strong.

Technology keeps advancing.

AI is changing how dealerships communicate with customers.

But one thing hasn’t changed…

People still want to do business with people they trust.

Today’s market is asking dealerships to be better listeners, better communicators, and better leaders.

Customers aren’t looking for more pressure.

They’re looking for more confidence.

That’s why I believe the dealerships that continue to grow won’t simply be the ones with the newest technology.

They’ll be the ones with the best people, the strongest culture, and the discipline to execute every opportunity.

Technology should make great teams even better.

It should never replace the relationships that make this business special.

The market creates opportunity. Leadership builds consistency. Ex*****on delivers results.

What do you think?

If you could improve one thing inside every dealership today, what would it be?

Leadership?

Communication?

Training?

Follow-up?

Customer experience?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Have a great weekend!

Today’s Automotive Snapshot Got Me Thinking…

June’s automotive numbers tell an interesting story.

Sales remain healthy, but the average new-vehicle payment has climbed to more than $800 per month.

Customers are still buying.

They’re simply making more thoughtful decisions.

That means dealerships have to change the conversation.

Instead of assuming every customer is focused on price, we need to understand what they’re really trying to accomplish.

Is it the monthly payment?

The trade value?

Fuel economy?

Peace of mind?

Technology and AI can help us move faster, but they don’t replace listening, building trust, or creating a great customer experience.

Those fundamentals still separate great dealerships from average ones.

The market creates opportunity. Leadership builds consistency. Ex*****on delivers results.

What do you think?

How do you think dealerships should adapt as affordability becomes an even bigger factor in the buying process?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

One Thought for Today…

Every day, we hear about AI, changing customer expectations, new technology, and how quickly the automotive industry is evolving.

Those things matter.

But after over 30 years in automotive retail, I’ve learned that one thing hasn’t changed…

Great dealerships are built by great leadership.

Technology can help us move faster.

AI can help us work smarter.

Marketing can bring customers to the door.

But it’s still people who build trust, earn relationships, and create customers for life.

The dealerships that continue to grow won’t simply have more tools.

They’ll have better leaders, better processes, and teams that execute with discipline every single day.

The market creates opportunity. Leadership drives consistency. Ex*****on delivers results.

What do you think?

As our industry continues to change, what do you believe will separate the dealerships that succeed over the next five years from those that fall behind?

I’d really enjoy hearing your thoughts.

Have a great day!

A Thought for Today…

After over 30 years in automotive retail, one lesson continues to prove itself.

Great dealerships don’t separate themselves because they have the biggest advertising budget or the newest technology.

They separate themselves because they execute better.

They answer the phone with purpose.

They follow up consistently.

They coach their people.

They build trust with every customer.

They hold themselves accountable.

Technology and AI are changing our industry, and I believe they’ll continue to make great dealerships even stronger.

But they’ll never replace great leadership, disciplined processes, or people who genuinely care about serving customers.

That’s still what wins.

The market creates opportunity. Ex*****on captures it.

What do you think?

What’s the one thing that separates a truly great dealership from an average one?

Leadership?

Culture?

People?

Process?

Technology?

Or something completely different?

I’d really enjoy hearing your perspective.

Have a great day, everyone!

A Thought to Start the Week…

I’ve been in the automotive industry for over 30 years, and one thing has never changed…

Great dealerships aren’t built because of the economy.

They’re built because of leadership.

Yes, technology is changing everything. AI is creating incredible opportunities, and today’s dealerships have more tools than ever before.

But here’s what I still believe:

Technology doesn’t replace great people.

It makes great people even better.

The dealerships that consistently outperform the competition aren’t necessarily the ones with the biggest advertising budgets.

They’re the ones that:

✅ Answer every opportunity quickly.

✅ Coach their people every day.

✅ Build trust with customers.

✅ Follow up consistently.

✅ Hold themselves accountable.

The market creates opportunity…

Ex*****on captures it.

I’d love to hear from my friends in the automotive industry…

What do you think separates a great dealership from an average one today?

Leadership?

Culture?

Process?

Technology?

People?

Let’s have a conversation.

Have a great week!

I’m wheels up today from Philadelphia to Los Angeles for several days of meetings with some of our incredible dealership partners. From there, it’s on to Seattle for a few more days of training, consulting, and helping our clients continue to raise the bar.

There’s nothing I enjoy more than working alongside great people, sharing ideas, challenging the status quo, and helping businesses grow. Every trip is another opportunity to learn, build relationships, and make a positive impact.

Then it’s back home Saturday morning… but until then, it’s full speed ahead.

Buckle up—it’s going to be an amazing week! Looking forward to reconnecting with great friends, meeting new clients, and creating even more success together.

Let’s go! 💪✈️
