Merry Christmas, friends!

As I sit here on Christmas Eve, I'm feeling ridiculously grateful for this wild, wonderful ride we call entrepreneurship --- and for every single person who's been part of it this year. The Tuesday Remote Rebels "strategy" sessions, the wins that made us all cheer, the pivots that felt impossible until they weren't. You've trusted me with your dreams, your brands, and your businesses, and that trust is never lost on me.

This season has reminded me that the best part of what I do isn't just the work itself, it's the people. The connections. The way clients become friends, and how we all keep showing up for each other, even when it's hard. So here's to you: for your courage, your creativity, and your willingness to build something meaningful.

Wishing you rest, joy, and the kind of holiday moments that fill your cup back up. (Also, yes, this festive little image was made with the help of Nano Banana Pro AI, because even at Christmas, we're all about working smarter, not harder, haha — but note, the original photo it produced had me with a wedding ring. I did not suddenly become married; that was an AI hallucination! Case in point about being careful with AI!)

Office of the day and it feels really good to be here. Love Common House!

There's something grounding about getting back into the work that lights you up. Today I'm catching up with my SBDC clients, tonight I'll be diving into projects for Let's Create clients, and in between? Probably too much tea and a few moments of gratitude for the people who keep me going. Oh, and my favorite book club holiday book swap 😊

If you've been thinking about a website refresh for the new year (or finally building that site you've been dreaming about) I'm taking on a few one-off projects right now. Whether it's a full redesign or just tightening up what you've got, I would love to help out so just reach out and let's see how we can create together!

Here's to showing up, doing the work we love, and building something meaningful.

Happy Thanksgiving! And today, I want to take a moment today to say a huge thank you.

I'm so incredibly grateful. This year has been . . . a lot. You know those years that test you, push you, reshape you? Yeah, one of those. And through all of it, what's kept me going has been the incredible community around me — my clients, my friends, my supporters, my family.

To my clients especially: you're the reason I show up every day. You inspire me with your courage to chase your business dreams, your willingness to be vulnerable in the growth process, and your trust in letting me walk alongside you. So many of you have become true friends, and that means more to me than I can say.

Being an entrepreneur is wild. Some days I'm on top of the world, other days I'm questioning everything. But I really wouldn't trade this journey for anything. It's made me stronger, wiser, more creative, more resilient. And getting to help your businesses grow along the way? That's the greatest gift.

So today, on Thanksgiving, I'm feeling deeply grateful. For every conversation, every project, every late-night brainstorm, every win we've celebrated together. Thank you for being part of this journey with me.

Here's to growth — yours, mine, and everything we're creating and building together!

Here's something you may or may not have noticed: Black Friday started in October this year, and if you felt caught off guard, you're not alone.

Economic uncertainty, a compressed shopping season, and anxious customers meant businesses had to move FAST — and many small business owners are still playing catch-up. But guess what? It's not too late. You don't need a massive budget or a perfectly polished campaign. You just need to show up, stay consistent, and speak directly to what your customers need right now.

Swipe through for what actually happened this year and three things you can do TODAY to get your holiday momentum going. And if you're feeling overwhelmed? That's normal. The holidays are intense. Let's make your strategy simpler — not bigger.

Some days you just need the right setup to power through.

Today it’s Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar on the downtown mall, a pot of green tea for the immune system boost, my planner wide open, and a slightly drizzly Tuesday that feels like permission to hunker down and get things done.

I’ve got a webinar to finish, client ads launching, creatives to craft, Black Friday prep in full swing, business plans to map out, and my Remote Rebels crew keeping me company. Oh — and a headache that refuses to quit. But honestly? It feels good to be in motion. To have this work. To have people trusting me with their vision.

Here’s the thing: Black Friday is less than two weeks away. And if you’re a small business owner, you’re probably feeling that crunch too. But the holidays aren’t just one weekend — they’re an entire season of opportunity.

So I’m curious: Have you started prepping for the holidays yet? What’s your biggest challenge right now — strategy, content, time, or something else entirely?
Drop a comment. I’d love to hear where you’re at — and maybe we can troubleshoot together.

It’s been a minute since I’ve shared an update, but I’m still here, doing what I love! Life has shifted in big ways this year, and I’ve been quietly building, creating, and soaking up gratitude for the amazing clients, collaborators, and friends who motivate me every day.

Today’s remote co-working session with my Remote Rebels WhatsApp group was a reminder of how much joy I get from connecting with others while doing the work that lights me up — helping small business owners launch, grow, and thrive.

Checked out a new place in town (or at least, new to me): Camellia's Bar & Roastery on 10th Street. It's their second location and the vibe is great! If you haven’t been yet, try it out — just please don't take my spot 😉 And of course I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie (fuel that helped me set up a new LLC this afternoon!)

The rhythm of life right now doesn't actually have much rhythm, but I'm finding ways to balance what life throws at me with optimism, creativity, connection, and my part-time role as a Rural Business Advisor with the Central Virginia SBDC. Super grateful for all the possibilities that lie ahead.

This morning, I woke up with the realization that things finally felt "good." Sometimes growth isn't a dramatic "ta-da!" moment with confetti and fanfare. Instead, it sneaks up on you like a good cup of coffee (or tea! or hot chocolate!) — slowly warming you up while you're busy doing the work. It's the trust you're building with clients, the new routines that actually stick this time (shocking!), and showing up even when your to-do list looks like it multiplied overnight.

Whether you're launching that dream project or trying to make your schedule behave like a well-trained puppy (aka the opposite of my dog Yoda), momentum happens when your work starts vibing with your values.

I've been doing my own little dance with a new rhythm these past few months, from juggling my incredible clients while stepping into a new role as a part-time Rural Business Advisor for the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center. The puzzle pieces are finally playing nice with each other. The conversations are flowing, my business is growing, the work feels like it matters, and the people (shoutout to my Remote Rebels crew!) are some of the best parts of this whole adventure.

So here's today's friendly reminder: Don't sleep on the slow-and-steady magic. The kind of growth that actually sticks around for the long haul? It's built with intention, consistency, and a solid crew cheering you on.

Here's to finding your groove and realizing you're already crushing it more than you know.

This is me! Straight from a Zoom call and more than halfway through a full, very diverse kind of workday.

Entrepreneurship isn’t always about the “big moment” or the perfectly curated desk shot. Sometimes it’s hopping between tasks, shifting gears (a lot), and having wildly different conversations within a few hours (for example jumping from discussing French translations using ChatGPT to debating the merits of various tasty strawberries). And then suddenly realizing you’re finally getting to co-work outside with friends, breathe fresh air, and feel grateful for the flexibility this path brings.

It’s not always fun and tidy. But it’s meaningful. So if you’re building something today, keep going. The rhythm might feel unpredictable, but the momentum adds up.

Started today off right with some small business conversation and community! I tagged along as a guest to the Fluvanna Women in Business breakfast this morning (thank you, Hannah Anderson!) and had the chance to meet so many energetic, driven women who are growing their businesses and supporting one another. Even ran into Jamie and Chris who own Ormes Gym LLC — one of my incredible clients!

Mornings like this remind me how lucky I am to be part of such a thoughtful, innovative small business community. For me, these are the connections that spark new ideas and keep the momentum going.

Earth Day reminds us that change doesn’t have to be massive to be meaningful. As entrepreneurs, we’re already used to thinking creatively, right? And as small business owners, we've learned how simply starting can be the biggest hurdle yet produce something incredibly impactful. So what if sustainability was just part of our creative process?

Here's 9 concrete steps we can all take, even when we don't have massive resources to invest in sustainability:

1. Audit and reduce waste
➡ Track your paper, packaging, or supply waste for one week.
➡ Use digital receipts, e-invoicing, and project management tools instead of printed forms.

2. Design your products and services for longevity
➡ Avoid creating disposable or trendy items unless you can reuse/recycle them.
➡ If possible, build in repair, reuse, or resale paths for your product or materials.

3. Go paperless where possible
➡ Use digital platforms to organize work.
➡ Replace printed forms with online scheduling, feedback, and intake.

4. Choose sustainable materials for packaging and merchandise
➡ Use recycled or compostable mailers, paper tape, or minimalist packaging.
➡ Offer merch made from organic or low-waste textiles

5. Support local vendors and reduce supply chain emissions
➡ Source products or materials from local businesses to reduce shipping impact.
➡ Partner with nearby service providers to cut down on transportation-based emissions.

6. Rethink your energy use
➡ Use LED lighting, smart power strips, and unplug chargers when not in use.

7. Offer sustainable delivery and pick-up options
➡ Promote local pick-up to reduce packaging and shipping.
➡ Consolidate shipments when possible to reduce frequency and fuel usage.

8. Clean Consciously
➡ Use eco-friendly cleaning supplies in your workspace, even if you have a home office.

9. Start a "give back" program
➡ Donate a small % of sales to environmental causes regularly.
➡ Volunteer locally or sponsor eco efforts with other small businesses.

One small, thoughtful shift at a time. You’ve got this. 💚

This morning, I attended the monthly Creative Mornings gathering here in Charlottesville, and was inspired. Met some new creatives in the community and reconnected with some others. It’s been a minute since I’ve been able to attend! This month’s theme was “Crossroads.”. Local couple Kate deNeveu & David Murray, owners of Hello Comics (formerly Telegraph Art & Comics), shared their story about navigating big decisions in their business and what it looked like to evolve from a gallery selling art prints into a nationally recognized comic shop.

Their honesty about those turning points like the tough conversations, the creative pivots, the letting go of early ideas to make space for new ones, etc was not only relatable but a reminder of what so many small business owners face.

As someone who works with entrepreneurs and creatives, I’m always moved by stories like this with real people adapting, growing, and continuing to pursue their dreams even when the path forward isn’t always obvious.

If you’re curious, here’s more about their talk on the Creative Mornings website: https://creativemornings.com/talks/professional-mutants-adapting-to-survive-thrive
