As we approach the end of the year, the hustle is real for many of us – juggling family, work, and personal goals can feel like a marathon. And in the midst of the ✨ festive chaos✨, daily life doesn't pause.
As a working mom, toddler mom, and building-my-business mom, my lists are never short. In fact, sometimes creating the list requires it's own separate list (anyone else?).
Here’s how my past few weeks have played out in list-form:
→ Merry Lists:
Presents (kids, spouse, family, friends, teachers, pets), ensuring said presents are evenly distributed, creating holiday cheer & magic, decorating everything, moving Doo Doo Elf (yep, that’s our Elf on the Shelf, gotta love toddler naming conventions), attending parties, meeting Santa, touring Christmas lights around town… the holly jolly works.
→ Daily Life Lists:
My youngest turned TWO (how did that happen?), dance classes, daycare parties, and theme weeks — do we have enough festive outfits? (Spoiler: the answer is never yes). Plus, learning to do life without my dad, checking in with family and friends, hosting visits, down to the basics of grocery shopping, and the ever-growing mountain of laundry...
→ Work Life Lists:
Reconnecting with clients and colleagues from the year, debating if I'm slow or if everyone is slow (maybe it’s just a collective mental break… and honestly, I’m not mad about it). Updating resources, researching new laptops and business needs, LLC research, reflecting on 2024’s wins/wishes, debating the pace of things, planning for growth in 2025...
→ Personal Growth and Goals Lists:
Navigating new opportunities with AI integration, honing animation skills, exploring classes/certifications, and seeking inspiration from fellow creatives to stay energized (am I doing this right?!). The endless cycle of learning and self-improvement fuels my drive, but can be a full day's work!
But here’s the thing: I've learned the importance of focus on personal well-being. I try to squeeze in some me-time too, but by prioritizing my personal lists — the ones for my family, my friends, and the people who fill my mental cup — everything else falls into place. Work lists feel more manageable, and goal lists feel more like a fun challenge rather than a chore. It's a reminder that self-care is not selfish; it's the foundation for success in all areas of life.
So make those lists, check them THRICE, and cheers to the journey ahead! 🌟
