Just recovered almost 500 pictures from a MicroSD card. Most of them were of the birth of the customers child. This should serve as a reminder to make sure you have a backup of anything that is important to you. With data loss it is not so much if, but rather when it will happen.
Stay safe out there

Over the last few months I have been getting more and more computers in that have been accessed remotely by scam companies. It is sometimes hard to tell if the person that you call or that calls you is fake due to the images featured on their sites, or who they claim to be affiliated with. For the most part none of the companies that you purchase from or get service from will ask to remotely connect to your computer. This includes Comcast, Netflix, Charter, ATT, or even Dell or HP. In all cases none of them will call you to inform you that you have an issue. These scam companies use remote access to enable them to control your computer at any time. Which leaves your personal and financial information exposed. Some of them will also tell you that your computer is infected and they can sell you a service contract. This is also something to stay away from. These companies appear and disappear almost daily and are not a reliable way to keep your computer clean and working

Check back here tomorrow and I will be posting a list of actual support numbers. I will try to get as many companies in there as possible. But, if I miss any you can message me and I will look it up and add to the list. Just one more way I am striving to keep you safe online and off

We have been fielding quite a few calls about the permissions for the Facebook Messenger app. So I thought I would help clear up some of the confusion. First this is not a new app, is has been around for quite a while. They have really just decided to switch to it for mobile users, due to how easily the app can interface with the phone. I have read the main blog article that has been causing quite a stir and frightening people into thinking that their phones will be taken over. So I will cover some of the permissions, and why they are there.

1. Ability to turn on camera and microphone- This permission is so that when you want to voice chat through messenger the app can allow you to do that.

2. Ability to make calls- This is also a feature of messenger that allows you to call a phone instead of using voice chat

3. Ability to change network connection- This is to allow the app to check to see if a stronger connection such as wifi is available to allow you to connect better to the service for things like video chat

Now I am not going to tell you that it couldn't be used for other stuff. But to me it seems highly unlikely. You will find articles online that are on both sides of the fence. I recommend that you read as much as you can and ask questions. Being informed is the best tool in your fight to stay safe online and off

Have a great weekend!

If you see a status about a home fire or someone getting attacked with a link attached. Don't click on it!
There is a scam going around on facebook and they use the link to gain your password so they can post messages on your wall. If it happens to you, change your password right away.

Just trying to keep you all safe on good friday :)
