Late nights, design tweaks, and a lot of teamwork. My wife and I have been working on promotional flyers for Chainman and Atomix Comix Studio. Excited to start getting these into people’s hands. Thanks to Total Nostalgia for always supporting me and helping me market this. Every little step helps.

Meet Bowen.

I’ve been a little quiet lately, but for a good reason.

Behind the scenes we’ve been hard at work developing one of the most important characters in the Chainman Universe.

Bowen.

In my universe, beings like Bowen are known as Omegas, advanced artificial lifeforms capable of independent thought, emotion, and growth. Created by Zrack, Bowen was designed to be far more than a machine.

He’s a protector. A companion. A friend.

Unlike ordinary robots, an Omega develops its own identity over time. It learns from its experiences, forms bonds, makes decisions, and ultimately becomes its own person. To Zrack and Frankie, Bowen isn’t equipment or technology.

He’s family.

These sketches show some of Bowen’s earliest concepts and the evolution of his design throughout development. He’s still in the concept stage, so parts of his final appearance may continue to change as we refine who he is and what role he’ll play in the story.

One thing that won’t change:

Bowen is proof that not all souls are born of flesh.

This is Yuri.

Long before Zrack understood what he truly was, he subconsciously saw fragments of the Great Rings… impossible structures hidden deep within the cosmos. As a child, he would sketch strange symbols, engines, star maps, and impossible ideas he couldn’t explain.

Most people saw random drawings.

His Earth father saw a blueprint.

Using Zrack’s designs, he secretly developed Yuri — the first human ship capable of ‘jumping’ across the universe.

In Chainman, space travel doesn’t rely on traditional speed. Yuri uses cosmic energy to briefly tear through folded points between the Great Rings, allowing the ship to bypass massive distances without centuries of time dilation. Instead of outrunning space… it slips between connected points in it.

But Yuri became far more than a ship.

An advanced AI system was later integrated aboard, giving Yuri a personality and awareness similar to Bowen. He helps guide the team, monitor threats, calculate jumps, repair systems, and assist the boys whenever they need him.

Yuri also contains advanced fabrication systems capable of creating, modifying, and adapting technology far beyond what the ship was originally built for.

There’s a reason Yuri appears in Panel 1.

He isn’t transportation.

He’s home.

Back in 2012, this was one of the very first Chainman concepts I ever drew.

No, this isn’t his final design anymore. Chainman has evolved a lot over the years. But this sketch represents where everything started for me.

That’s exactly why I chose it for the Founder’s Edition cover.

I wanted this variant to come full circle. Not just as a collectible, but as a piece of the journey.

From notebook sketches and ideas as a kid… to building a real comic universe years later.

This one means a lot to me.

Limited to 20 copies and inspired by the earliest sketches and concepts from 2012 that helped shape the universe over the years.

I wanted the Founder’s Edition to feel raw. Like opening an old sketchbook from the beginning of the journey.

Before the finished pages… there were concepts.

Rough layouts.

A lot of the ideas behind Chainman started years before the comic itself entered production. Looking back at this portfolio board reminds me how long this journey has really been.

Nothing happened overnight.

Every redesign, every rewrite, every rough draft helped shape the universe I’m building today through Atomix Comix Studio.

Started with pencils and ideas.
Now it’s becoming something real.
