Tomorrow night I'm talking smart home technology with the — and if you're a landlord or a real estate investor in New Jersey, this session was built for you.

We're going through the whole toolbox: smart locks and access control, leak detection, thermostats, cameras, lighting — but through the lens my company actually works in: home safety, independence, and peace of mind, especially for aging tenants. Because here's the thing — the fastest-growing group of renters in this country is aging inside somebody's rental units right now. The landlords who understand what that means are going to keep their tenants longer and keep their properties out of trouble.

Most days you do not need to know exactly when the cleaner showed up at your mom's house. And then there is the week you do.

Maybe the cleaner says she came Friday and the place does not look it. Maybe your mom mentions someone was there and you are not sure who. Maybe an aide swears she stayed her full shift.

Without anything to check, you are left guessing.

And guessing about a parent's house wears on you in ways that are hard to explain to anyone who has not done it, because it is not one big worry, it is a hundred small ones running quietly in the background all week.

That low-grade vigilance is real work. It just never gets counted.

A keypad lock keeps a quiet log, so you can glance at it and see that the cleaner came at 9:40 and left at 11:15, and that is the whole story. There is no camera pointed at someone doing their job, no hovering, and no awkward phone call where you are trying not to sound like you are accusing anyone of anything.

Most of the time it just sits there. The week you need it, it is everything.
