The COVID-19 pandemic forced many of us to spend more time online and the reprecussions for this are only just starting to be understood. Research from New Mexico State University found that more than half of the adult population in the U.S. is either at risk of addiction or severely addicted to the internet, something exacerbated by the feelings ofdepression and anxiety the pandemic brought with it.

The new study found 41 percent had probable addiction or were at risk for addiction, while 14 percent had definite or severe addiction.

Yik Yak is an anonymous social media app where people can leave messages that can only be seen by people within a short physical distance. It was shut down years ago after rampant complaints of cyberbullying, but it's seen a revival now under new owners. They claim to have learned from past mistakes, but it's hard to say if it will be any safer for younger users, so keep an eye out!
