Being a graphic designer is definitely the unsung hero of the creation of a music product (or any product). What you see is sometimes as important...or sometimes, more important... than what's in the package. it's called marketing! Some artists will spend $10,000 (or more) to record a CD, but won't spend $500 on the packaging. I recently was involved in a project where after the project was complete, everyone was singled out and given accolades for the efforts put in and the wonderful job that was done. During the process, behind closed doors, I was applauded. But publicly...forgotten. Trying to get in someones head and try to create their vision is not easy. It takes a lot of time, passion, and creativity to create art. And when collaborating..a lot of compromise. People hire you...a professional...because they want a professional product. It's unfortunate that often times, they discount all your input. I know I'm not alone. Many graphic designers are in the same boat. The reason I bring this to light is, as a freelancer, a lot of this business is referral. But it's hard to get business if know one will give you accolades, and publicly acknowledge your work. But here is a great example of someone valuing what you do. This post was out of the blue, and unsolicited. Thanks Mike! Things like this don't cost a thing...but mean a lot!!!
